Northwinds Hotel Canmore

This was an extremely disappointing stay. On the first day, the bathroom drain was already clogged and the water drained extremely slowly. After running the shower for about 10 seconds, it took around one minute for the water to fully drain. (See photo 1, I also have the video) It was impossible to properly wash anything below my ankles. I reported this issue to the front desk the next day, but I was told that no one was available that day and that someone would come to fix it the following day. However, by the third day, the drain had still not been fixed, and the problem had actually become worse. On the third day, when I went to the front desk again, I was told it was because the “Do Not Disturb” sign was on the door. However, when I left the room, I had specifically flipped the sign over, so it was no longer showing “Do Not Disturb.” (See photo 2) There was no knock, no phone call, and no clear communication. I asked to change rooms on both the second and third days, but was told the hotel was fully booked each time. The drain issue remained unresolved until check-out. This was actually my second stay at this hotel. During my previous stay, the door lock was broken, and the room change was handled reluctantly. Banff itself is beautiful, but these repeated maintenance and service issues made the stay very unpleasant. I would not choose this hotel again.

The hotel has no elevator, and daily housekeeping is unavailable. The staff wouldn’t clean the room even after my request. I had to carry all my luggage upstairs with no assistance from any staff, so the overall service is mediocre.

Convenience, clean and comfortable.

A bit noisy between rooms - could be improved by adding door sweeps. I wish the deep bathtub had a grab bar.

Such a perfect hotel! The hotel has been recently renovated and you can’t beat it for the price. It’s in a perfect location within walking distance to most of Canmore’s amenities and surrounded by good restaurants! Highly recommend!!
