From the beginning of our girls trip (three sisters), to our last moments there, every corner of the resort is beautifully appointed, grand, and welcoming. The hospitality at Pelican Grand is unmatched; every single member of the staff we encountered at the resort was extremely accommodating, attentive, friendly, and helpful.
On our first day, we arrived early and laid by the pool, and enjoyed lunch and drinks, and then went up for a triple "couples" salt stone massage in the Pure Spa, where we literally thought we died and went to heaven. I had Avanel as my therapist, my sister had Vicky, and my other sister had Darby-- these ladies were so skilled at giving the most relaxing massage, that we decided to book another one for the day of our departure.
Our days at the resort had a rhythm, wake up and enjoy the sunrise from our balcony, get dressed for the day, grab a coffee (coffee is great btw) from the adorable little coffee/gift/ice cream shop downstairs, and then head for the beach! On the beach chairs, side tables and umbrellas are brought down to the shore, you don't have to lift a finger for anything. At 11am lunch and drink service starts, and the servers are really wonderful. When we grew tired of the beach, we made our way to the pool to lounge and swim, and paddle around in the lazy river. Gio remembered my sisters from last time they visited the resort, which amazed me-- and Adam-- I'm not sure what Adam's job title is, but his role seems to be everything to do with managing the outdoor activities, and he's incredible-- he notices everything, makes sure everything runs smoothly, and ensures a good time for all. When parents weren't watching their kids who were jumping into the shallow part of the pool, he stepped in and corrected their behavior, in just the right tone. I was very grateful for that. Furthermore, he always inquired about our stay, and whether or not we were having a good time. After the pool, we went up to our rooms to freshen up, and then down to Ocean2000 restaurant for dinner. The menu is fabulous, I ate a different fish dish each and every night. My sisters got steak, and they raved about it. All of our servers were wonderful, but Matthew really did a stand out job making us feel special, and even brought out a birthday card signed by the kitchen staff for my sister, along with a good size slice of carrot cake, dressed with a single candle. After dinner, we enjoyed the breeze, rocked in the rocking chairs on the back porch, and when we grew tired, up to bed we went. Each day pretty much went the same, and it was so very relaxing. On our last day, we did go back for that second massage. Natalia at the front desk helped arrange everything, and I had a different therapist, Susan, who was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend bookending your vacation with visits to the spa, it sets the right tone in the beginning, and puts you in a state of zen instead of a rushed frenzy upon departure. I can't stress enough how kind everyone is here-- it's a big part of what made the stay so pleasant. Some things to note, it is very windy! I though I would be hot, but at night I was actually chilly! Definitely bring a light sweater. Also, at the time we were there, there was quite a bit of seaweed-- I might have swam further into the ocean if it wasn't so bad-- so keep the time of year in mind for seaweed season. Some notes for the hotel: 1. Could use an adults only pool somewhere on the property. 2. This property is just begging for hammocks! 3. A faulty hinge on our hotel room door prevented it from self-closing, which is a security issue, especially for 3 ladies traveling-- please be attentive that staff closes the doors after leaving the rooms, and try to make sure the hinges are in good working order. Other than that, it was absolutely perfection. We are already planning our next trip!! And I’m planning on bringing my husband next time, it would definitely be a romantic getaway for couples for sure !
