Really bad elevator, you can wait 15 minutes for an elevator and then we could only get 1 person into it. The shower has slick marble floors in them. We both almost slipped and fell a couple of times, each time we showered.

Loved everything about this place! We had an ocean front view, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Felt like we were on a private beach. Comfy beds. And the staff, they knocked it out of the park with their customer service.

Location is perfect for us. Bell men are good, maids are friendly and efficient.

Mandatory gratuity is unrealistic. Tipping someone should be an option. In a bar where a tip should be based on service not mandatory. If I receive great service I normally tip 50% but mandating that I tip is when I go somewhere else to consume alcohol and or food. Poorest service that I have ever received at the Pelican as we have stayed there 7 times. Wait staff in the bar and restaurant was hideous. They don't have to hustle because they get paid anyway at my expense not the Pelicans. Mattress is worn out in my room, toilet paper holder falling off the wall and door locks need penetrating oil to work properly. I never saw a maintenance person in 5 days. The only place that was great is the gift shop. Before I book next year's trip I will contact the Pelican to check on the gratuity issue. If it remains the same built in percentage I will look elsewhere period.
