Red Lion Hotel Monterey

Room smelled very musty. The hotel seemed dirty out side as well as in room and we had no towels in bathroom to shower.

Lacked cleanliness and NO towels in room at all.

The room was very comfortable, large, and clean.

The woman who checked us in had no eye contact, did not know how to smile, was not friendly at all. A real turn off. The bathroom sink needs a stopper. Breakfast was a joke.

Location was fine.

Black Mold in our bathroom, rusty bathtub, dirty bathroom. Moldy smell in room was very strong. Dead rat by empty hot tub.

I can park my car where it was close to my room.

Let me get my notebook out and start with This … Check-in was @3pm i showed up @3 pm The receptionist sent me away saying it wasn’t clean. They were working on it because they were so busy because the whole entire hotel was booked the night before but when I got to the room, it was dirty!!! The remote control was sticky ewww . I wiped it down with the paper towel. It was disgusting. 🤮 There was a sliding glass door where you could access a patio from your room, which had cigarette buds all over the place and broken pieces of pottery and a broken down Coke machine with wires hanging out everywhere “ great view”😡 I drove 5 hours and was exhausted and I showed to a filthy room. I was so furious but yet too tired to say anything. I just figured just gonna bear with it ! the receptionist kept on telling me how the hotel was just so booked ! That soon there will be this long line of people checking in. well I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody. Especially if you have children. 1 to 10 I would give it a zero Oh, did I forget to mention that the door was stuck you had to slam it at least twice for it to close!

Staff was nice

Air conditioning not working. Room was dirty smells like bleach. Mold in shower.

The location and the price

It was pretty filthy in the rooms. Spiders, ants, beetles. Condom wrapper outside in the hallway. We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights to accommodate our family group. All of the rooms were spread out instead of together even though I booked the rooms 2 weeks ahead and specifically asked for them to be adjoining or at least next door to each other. Each room had 4 people in it but there were only 2 towels so I asked for more towels and they didn't have any either of the days we were there. The pool and hot tub were both out of order, so the kids were a little disappointed. The outlet in our room was pulled out of the wall and lying on the floor. Over all, just a kind of dirty and grimy hotel. But in a great location so we just stayed.
