Red Lion Hotel Monterey

It's a great location if you're driving on Hwy 1 and the staff is very nice and friendly. They provide a roof over your head, a bed and a fridge. The room (including bathroom and linen) was dirty. The window was extremely difficult to shut (it didn't have a handle), the shades wouldn't close fully and the air conditioner/heating didn't turn on. If it would be maintained and cleaned properly it has potential to be a good motel but it's a far cry from being a hotel, definitely not worth what I paid.

Female on check in day was not very friendly. The guy who checked us in was fine but gave no information on the property or amenities. The garbage for our building did not appear to get picked up during the two days we stayed. At check out there was no one available at the front desk. Facilities seemed run down.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to warn others—especially those with asthma or sensitivities. I stayed here with my family and was only able to remain in the room for about 30 minutes. There was a strong odor of mildew mixed with cleaning chemicals, which made the room unbearable. It seemed like the cleaner may have been used to mask the mildew smell. The curtains and bedsheets were also visibly stained. Unfortunately, the conditions triggered a severe asthma attack, and I had to check out immediately. I do want to note that the front desk attendant was very polite and professional. He took my information and said a manager would contact me the next day regarding a refund. That was on Wednesday, and as of Friday, I still have not received any follow-up. Additionally, when we arrived, there were individuals walking around the parking lot who did not appear to be guests, which made us feel uneasy. Given my experience, I would not recommend staying here. It’s surprising, especially considering the hotel is located across from a very nice shopping area.

wallpapers in the bathroom (yeah, in Monterey - great idea!!) was full of black mold, floor to ceiling trash in the hotel hallway the property pool was filthy and full of leaves shoe marks on the wall in the room

Nothing everything Bad unclean bed bugs costumer service the worse we came at 3pm to check in the room wasn’t ready they tell me come back later we will call you 5 pm nothing I call them and they say they’re busy

I tried to talk with the costumer service bad actitud about the bed bugs the room was unclean smells I want my money back she told me the manager is not here I can do whatever not happy I will call health department about it room 315

Close to the freeway and a nice shopping mall.

I asked for a blanket and it never came. My room was for 3 and we had towels for only 2. No hair blower.

Bem próximo da estrada, mas nao chegou a ser barulhento. Cama confortável, banheiro amplo. Recepção atenciosa. Café da manhã para levar, mas bom que tem! Paramos aqui na descida da Highway 1 então foi ótimo para descansar. Tem um posto próximo e um mercado tbm. Está apenas uns 10 min de Carmel by the Sea

O Wifi nao pega na área dos quartos, e mal pega na recepção, e se for Apple dizem eles que a chance diminui de pegar! Isso poderia melhorar!

This dump is next to a busy intersection and a gas station is in the parking lot. It is loud 24/7. The hallways are gross. The mattresses are old, lumpy and saggy. You can feel the springs! So not for anyone who wants a decent night's sleep. A/C is loud, but it works. That is the only positive. If you want peace and quiet or a decent bed, go somewhere else, anywhere else.
