"Great base in a unique town."

This Doubletree checked all the boxes. The staff was friendly, breakfast was good, and the location can not be beat. Right on Helena's pedestrian mall, once you park--which is easier than some of the other reviews may have you believe--you don't need a car to explore the town or its myriad restaurants and breweries. I quite enjoyed the small balcony with full sliding door to get some fresh Montana air. Yes, it is obvious this is an uplifted older hotel but Hilton did a great job of bringing it into the brand.

Close to the downtown

There was no soap in the shower dispensers. The hot tub looked poorly maintained (it had a dirty brown bottom), there were no double tree cookies. When we checked in we were told there was a continental breakfast. The next day we went down for breakfast and it was a sit down order off of menu breakfast. We asked the front desk if this was included and the guy told us it was, but then the restaurant said it wasn't. Overall very confusing. The waitress was accommodating and the service was great. I offered to pay still but the restaurant insisted we didn't. Also when I checked in I was asked if I was with the state, which I am not. Something to do with the visa number or something. Overall it seems like this hotel is run by people who have never been to a hotel before.
