Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fond Du Lac

The lighting in this hotel was poor. They use low wattage bulbs. The hallway and room were dark. There was no light above the desk area. Other than that, the room was comfortable and clean. Aside from the lighting I would recommend this hotel. This seems to be a practice with many hotels. They are using lower wattage bulbs to save money, but making it hard to see in the rooms. With the cost of the rooms, use brighter bulbs. Some people have a difficult time in low light.

The bed was the wrong size, the room was dirty including the sheets, vent on ac , the ceiling in the bathroom had mold on ceiling, the door frame had smoking residue, stains on carpet, and dead flies in the picture frame on the wall, there was no food for breakfast, the staff was rude and room smelled of mildew. The whirlpool was broken.

They overcharged for the security deposit and lied about policy. Staff was rude and didn't want to talk to us after we caught the extra charges they attempted to charge to my account

Trying to save a little money on lodging while shopping online, I came across the Microtel Inn & Suites. Based on some reviews, cost and pictures I opted to reserve a room here. The best quality of this location was the "usually on a cell phone call" but friendly staff. Roadside signage to this location didn't exist. Trying to find this location at night using navigation was a chore. Our single queen room was clean but felt cramped. It included an average size flat screen TV, a small refrigerator and microwave. Wi-fi connection was hit or miss at times. The bed mattress was worn and stiff. The box the mattress was on squeaked when getting in or out and rolling over on my side of the bed. The climate control unit was loud and difficult to manually dial in a temp setting that wasn't too cold or warm. Some towels had rust stains and the bathroom always had a subtle musty odor. The advertised spa was down for remodel or maintenance and the ice machine in the lobby was in need of work too. Slamming the side of it with a palm didn't drop the prepared ice as proven by a staff member. The Continental breakfast was mediocre and not actively restocked. The local truck stop diners were good alternatives. Next time, I would pay extra money to stay at another place. I can't recommend this one.

Getting kicked out after confronting the receptionist of trying to charge us $100 instead of $50 like their policy stated on the counter. He said that the sign was wrong and was told by his manager to charge us the 100 even after paying online in advance. He then looked at my girlfriend and told her" I know you, you are not allowed here because of your bad review you gave us" he then proceeded to kick us off the property and refused us our reservation. We did not get our money back due to the no refund policy on booking.com when you pay in advance. And we were forced to sleep in our vehicle as that was the only money we had at the time.

It was suitable at a very basic level, which is all we expected.

Room was small, kind of grungy, very over-priced due to the air show at Oshkosh. The hairdryer didn’t work and I called the front desk to ask for another one. He said he didn’t have a spare but he would come up. When he came, he didn’t have a hair dryer, but he asked to look at the one in the bathroom. Since the hair dryer is mounted to the wall and my husband was shaving, I said that it wasn’t a good time. He left. I told my husband, and he said to let the guy in. I called down the hall to the guy and he came back. He went into the bathroom, where my husband stood aside in a towel with shaving cream on his face, and the employee realized that the hair dryer in fact did not work. He went and got a spare within minutes.

Nasty stains on the sheets as soon as I pulled the blankets back!!! NASTY!!! It stays under construction but the “new” items look used.
