Vila Gale Porto Centro Hotel

Good hotel but rather larger and more impersonal than we prefer. Free parking. Great room, great breakfast, everything immaculate. Lovely spa with pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi plus treatments. Location too far from centre of city- 20 mins walk to nearest yellow hop on hop off bus stop.

This hotel was really pleasant, the rooms were cleaned very well. The bed was confortable, could be bigger and one piece versus 2 twins joined together, but that didnt bother us too much. The breakfast was good, lots of variety, but the coffee could be better. One of those coffee/espresso machines would make a difference. The bar was really good, the bartender made very good drinks. The other downside is the elevator situation. There are 5 elevators but you can only take 2 to your room. Not sure of this is better or worse. But overall a very good visit.

You are required to use caps in the swimming pool (if you don't have one - you can buy one at the hotel). The pool is small and crowded. The rooms have very old decor and carpets. Lots of dust and smell like cigarette smoke. The area around hotel has a lot of construction and unfinished or run down houses. You can walk to the city center easy - but most of the time you pass by hookers, homeless, drugs and thugs. Some hotel staff could not give good directions for subway cost or suggestions where to go. We chose half board - food was ok. One night when big buses came - food was better than other nights.

Close to the metro, and adjacent to the regional coach station. This is very nice business style hotel, you pay extra for a room safe key which I feel for a hotel of this quality should be included in the room price. The rooms were clean and a good size, not all the views from the rooms are great, many face the industrial side of the city. The hotel is the stop off for coach tours so there is plenty of people around, this can make breakfast busy, but the staff keep food supplies topped up, and if you miss that morning rush its quiet otherwise. You could walk to the centre of Porto and the bridge etc in about 25mins.

This is an excellent hotel. It is slightly outside the centre, but close to the metro (and also the bus station). The facilities are top class - it was great to be able to use the gym and the buffet breakfast was very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and corrected a mistake in the booking without fuss. For the price I paid I consider it to be good value and I really enjoyed my stay. I would book again, if visiting Porto.

We missed slippers and a bathrobe to go to the pool and spa. The waiting in the restaurant was very long.
