"Great location for windsurfing, kite surfing"

8.0

The hotel is in Costa Calma. We stayed only for one day but the town seems really slow and unless you're in town to check out the wind surfing or kite surfing, there doesn't seem to be much else. Like much else in Fuerteventura, the hotels are set up as all inclusive. The restaurants in the area and the layout seems to really reflect that. The the hotel is laid out with the main hotel and sets of suites that are around it. We styed in one of these suites. The rooms were very large, looked onto the water. TV actually has English sparking channels that isn't BBC news or CNN world news. And because of the proximity of the Rene Egle watersport service, I wished we had spend more of our time here for kite surfing than up north.

"Late getaway"

8.0

Hotel is situated in a beautiful location, on amazing beach. Having walked the length and breadth of coast and seen the other resorts near by, Melia Gorriones Hotel definitely has the prime position. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Perfect hotel if you just want to sit by the pool, lounge on the beach or be more energetic with the many wind and beach sports.

"All inclusive with restrictions."

6.0

The spot is a lovely place, the grounds are beautiful, the hotel is slightly dated but still very comfortable and high standard. The all inclusive is good but a few really annoying restrictions, they stop serving the included drinks at 11pm... That's hardly a full evening. Don't expect a proper night club or any entertainment after 11pm.

"Perfect for quiet beach holiday or wind/kite surfing"

8.0

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last 20 years, through various changes of management and hotel makeovers. The last time we went 3 years ago we were dissappointed in the staff attitude and treatment of all-inclusive guests as second class. The location is still remote and secluded and we wanted a quiet holiday, so we decided to give it another try. This time, the staff were very welcoming and all-inclusive drinks were available everywhere. The choice of wine was very limited and there was no allowance made if you wanted to upgrade the wine to a better one. The tennis courts need some repair and the paving around the main pool could do with resurfacing, but apart from that everything was in a good state of repair.

"place to revisit"

8.0

loved it and will go back.Went there just before Iwas due to have major surgery for prostate cancer......it was complete therapy...away from it all, miles of beach to walk on,hotel gardens tranquil yet the kids there seemed to be having a really good time....We dont normally do all in as we are real foodies but the food was completely acceptable with enough healthy options to choose from.....We had a car and drove around a little Jandia...lovely...Caleta de fuste..wouldn.t rate...but always loved coming back to our own little haven.

"Great hotel for german families and windsurfers"

8.0

Hotel about an hour from the airport, very big catering mostly to germans, superbly located in front of the beach with swimming pools and the famous windsurfing/kitesurfing center Rene Egli. Great spot for lovers of these sports. However, the center is quite expensive (e.g. 150 euros for a three hour lesson of kitesurf). The hotel needs some maintenance to keep it in pristine shape. It was disappointing that there was only internet in the lobby (4 euros per hour). About 35% of tv channels were in german, 35% in spanish. The food was ok. The views spectacular. Clearly a mass tourist hotel for german families and couples looking for a quiet sunny island getaway.

"Perfect for a relaxing break"

10.0

Our room was in the Casa del Mar block, these are spacious apartments away from main hotel but first line to the splendid views of the beach. A walk to the hotel but via well maintained pathways and pretty landscaped gardens. We had a fridge and microwave so ideal for us as we were on half board and could make hot drinks or keep them cool. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel, the food was remarkable for a buffet, varied and very good quality. It's a drive from anything actually which for me was part of the attraction, but the roads are good so get your hire car and go !!

"Definitely 3 star, NOT 4 star."

6.0

We booked this hotel for a family of four for 2 nights recently, and to be honest we were not impressed. As it was only a short stay, we booked rooms in "the level" area of the hotel which offer additional features than other rooms, such as a free mini bar, use of the basic spa and guaranteed sea views. However, after checking in one of the rooms was found to have not been cleaned, and had such tasty suprises in store as a LIVE cockroach and litter all over the floor. Upon contacting reception, we were met by a rude checkin assistant who told us that "cockroaches were normal" and gave no hint of an apology. We were on the 7th floor! He finally moved us to a new room on the 9th floor, but all in all this took over 1 and a half hours to sort out. The other room we had booked was clean, however the air conditioning unit was broken and was leaking water all over the floor. We informed the reception area of this and they said that they would deal with it (this was at 8.30pm). At this point we went for dinner and came back. At 1am my sister who was in the room was called on the phone asking if she wanted to change rooms... why was she called 4.5 hours later when she was asleep?? On the plus side, the hotel does have good pools and a choice of two restaurants, however we were very much unimpressed and to be honest although the facilities were 4 star, the service poor and much more suited to a lower starred property.
