Pine Cliffs Residence, a Luxury Collection Resort, Algarve

Si vous venez en avion directement sans voiture à Faro et que vous dépendez des restos de l'hôtel, préparez un budget tres serieux. Il a été tres difficile d'obtenir un late check in. On ressent un service peu généreux et un peu robotisé

We've booked it by Portugees Butler. The appartement has good size. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is good equiped. It is very close to the Falecia beach. You have here swimmingpool, athletic area and the cliff natural park. Beds are comfortabel and the appartement is clean. Our host Rui is very helpful.

Super site and large safe complex - amazing beach and high quality restaurants onsite - it is a very quiet place despite the size and makes a perfect holiday base on the downside the drinks, food and facilities are vastly over priced. We have been.few times but this year it was noticeable how few guests where actually buying anything poolside for example.

We stayed in the Garden Residences and it was exceptional! The accommodation was massive. The staff are amazing. I’m not sure if it changes in high season (August onwards) but in July the shuttle (golf buggy’s or big card) can be called at any time to collect you to transport you to one side of the resort to the other. We often got them to collect us as we were near the kids football pitch (boys loved this ) which is right at the back of the resort. The washing machine and dryer were very fast (within an hour) so that was great. I washed every day (little things). My only gripe is that there was no rack to hang clothes. That is majorly needed as I don’t put all my clothes in the dryer (it did have a lot of settings for delicates etc though). So I ended up using the chairs on the balcony which was fine but not as ascetically pleasing. You don’t want to put damp swimwear or towels in the dryer either after a swim. The only other thing I would say is the cost of food on site is very very expensive but there are lots of places locally that do take away. We had breakfast in the apartment and at the golf club a couple of times and once at Zest as they were reasonable. We did do the buffet breakfast once but very expensive for 5 people at 35 euros . O’Grill in the evenings has a different themed food night each night (Mediterranean, seafood, bbq etc) and that was amazing. It’s approx 55-65 euros depending on the night but you have all the courses and it’s not your average buffet. Each night someone comes to your room to check if you need anything which is a nice touch. The beach has a few activities and my kids did the donut ring which was pulled by a boat. They enjoyed the zip lines which was good value at an hour for 30 or 35 euros. They also did the football camp which was 2 hours a day. They really enjoyed that. The Pools are great. The one near O’Grill was their regular haunt which was good for us as we could sit and have a coffee. Food and drinks can be served to the sun loungers too which is good. Luxury place and beautifully maintained. Would go back.

My experience with Design Holidays and Pine Cliffs Residence Design holidays misold us a holiday. The sales representatives said there was a water centre with sailing, kayak, jet ski (when there was no water sports at all) and the location of Pine Cliffs residence is 7 minutes walk to the beach when in fact it was over 25 minutes and we needed a car to go to restaurants, beach and facilities. We were travelling with my son who has got learning disability... The worst thing is the 2 bedroom luxury suite was dirty and needed repairs (toilet flushing every 5 minutes keeping us awake at night) extractor fan falling from ceiling because of a leak, broken door stop in the bathroom leaving a rusty screw sticking our of the floor etc. I have been back for more than 6 weeks and made a complaint to Design Holidays on my return. I have sent several emails and rang them but to this day, I haven't received any apologies or compensation. The manager from Pine Cliffs residence Paolo has told us when we were at Pine Cliffs that they were happy to Refund us the first night of our stay and moved us to a different accomodation but Design Holidays is not taking any responsabilities. If you book with them a package or accomodation be aware that they are not member of ABTA so you are on your own if something goes wrong! I am writing this review today as I don't wish to anyone what has happened to me and my family.

This is our 3rd time staying at the Pine Cliffs whilst we really enjoyed our stay, we felt there was room for some improvement. We stayed in the Pine Cliff Gardens which are clean, modern, and fully equipped. Our location was perfect close walk to the supermarket, pool and near the exit. The cleaning of the apartments was perfect. There were a couple of niggles Wi-Fi connection poor, not that we watched TV but remote control missing, robes had holes in them and some towels had make up on them, but these were all minor. Pine Cliffs is huge, and it never felt overly busy. We used both the beach and pool, which were both very nice. Pools got busy, and it was very apparent of the classic reserving of sunbeds. One morning on an early morning stroll the pool closest to the residences by 9am every single pool bed was reserved. The hotel really needs to start doing something about this. Pine Cliffs also desperately needs to have an adult only pool. As nice as the pool was and it was lovely to see children enjoying their holidays sometimes you just want peace and quiet whilst you are trying to relax. We ate in the hotel a couple of times but there are much better places outside of the hotel. The hotel also seemed to have hiked up their prices by 20/25% on the previous year. They also need to have more choice for veggies on the menu other than pizza, pasta, and a burger, all very good but they need to offer more choice. The above wouldn’t stop me staying here again, it’s a lovely place and it is also very safe. The staff are all lovely and helpful, but they need to do more to make this a 5* resort. From our understanding an IKOS is opening soon around that area, so Pine Cliffs really need to up their game a little.
