"An elegant, gracious & secure place to stay while exploring beautiful Victoria Harbor and surrounds."

10.0

First the location is superb, right in the heart of things yet set back slightly on a side street so it is quiet and less congested during peak hours. We had a view suite that was spacious, elegant and had a great harbor view and sweet breezes. It is less stuffy as a private club operating in part as a hotel than I had wondered. It is extremely safe and secure and without hotel hubbub which was a gracious way to live for 3 days. The building and rooms are elegantly appointed. The staff was very helpful. They do lock down after 11 pm until 6 am so if you are a night owl, it may not be your style but for us it was perfect. Despite being fancy, we felt it was an excellent relative value for Victoria Harbor.

The parking situation was odd, street spots that had 90 minute meters from 8 AM to 8 PM or they offered a nearby garage that required a fob you must borrow to get in and out. That said, we figured it out by the first morning: because of the fabulous location, we didn't need the car during our stay and found a gated public lot 2 short blocks away that was perfect and reasonable. Problem solved and felt less fussy than the fob lot. Also be aware that there are lots of stairs to enter the building and get to the rooms.

"Het is een heel bijzonder hotel; je gaat terug in de tijd / geschiedenis"

8.0

"disappointing"

3.0

Coffee was great. One person behind the desk was very friendly. The history of the place is interesting.

We were admonished by a person entering the building as we were leaving for a walk (in the heat, in our shorts and tshirts) who said we shouldn't be dressed that way! Your dress code encourages a haughtiness in some guests that is kind of sickening. The bed was uncomfortable, coffee in the room is always appreciated, and it's hard to maintain a super clean feel to carpets and things that are so old. I felt a bit ripped off spending what we did for the experience we had.

Amazing location, close to everything and walkable. Lots of old world charm and very nice staff. Don't book this place if you don't want to adhere to their dress code -- they make it very clear, and it's part of the charm. The breakfasts and dinner we had at the restaurant were even better than expected. Some of the rooms have been redone, and so have not, so there is a variety of quality there. If you can splurge for the harbor view, it's lovely. May want to ask if the room you'll be assigned has been remodeled. There aren't enough plugs for modern electronics near the bedside, which I guess isn't surprising, but also a little frustrating in 2025. Also, the elevator is still out; we knew it was being remodeled in June, but thought the work was sheduled to be complete by end of June. It was still going on in the first week of July, just FYI.

"Mediocre stay in Victoria"

4.0

Good location, large room. Nice staff.

No elevator to 3rd floor, parking was 3 blocks away and had to have a fob to enter and exit on weekends. A bit run down, no breakfast. No pool or hot tub. Had a steam room.
