Orange Tree Resort

We stayed at Orange Tree Resort starting December 5th for what was supposed to be an early Christmas staycation, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. On the first night in Room 304, I started itching while I was in bed and initially thought it might be a reaction to the bath soap. The same thing happened the next day, even after I switched to my own soap, and I noticed what I thought was a mosquito bite. I spent most of the day in bed on December 6th, and the itching continued. On the morning of December 7th, the itching got much worse, and I woke up with multiple bites on my legs. Shortly after that, my husband got out of the shower and saw bugs crawling on the bathroom floor in Room 304. We checked the bed and saw bugs there as well. At that point, it was clear something was seriously wrong with the room, and we contacted the front desk. We were moved at about 1:00 a.m. to Room 714. Unfortunately, things did not get better. When we arrived in Room 714, the sheets were dirty, stained, and had hair on them. There was also hair and a bug in the bathroom. We called the front desk again and were told there was no staff available to change the sheets, and that if we wanted clean bedding, we would either need to change the sheets ourselves or move yet again to another room. After dealing with bugs in the first room and then dirty bedding and a bug in the bathroom in the second room, we were not able to sleep at all. This stay was supposed to be a relaxing, special early Christmas gift to ourselves, but instead it was stressful, unsanitary, and exhausting. Management did apologize and offered us a complimentary one-week stay voucher, good for a year, and told us we would receive it by email by the end of the day. We never received that email, and there was no follow-up from the resort. That lack of follow-through was extremely disappointing on top of everything else that had already happened. We had booked this stay through RCI using points. RCI ultimately refunded our points, which we appreciate, but Orange Tree Resort itself did not follow through on what it promised and has not truly made this right on their end. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel that future guests should be aware of what we experienced. At a minimum, I expect a resort to provide clean, bug-free rooms, truthful communication, and to honor what management promises when trying to resolve a serious issue. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at Orange Tree Resort.

This is a great hotel and location for a trip with my wife. The hotel was just perfect for us, for our stay. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great restaurants and stores nearby.

The room was very comfortable, clean and had everything you needed. The beds were really comfortable. The location was great. Lots of parking and the staff was very accommodating. I will definitely stay there again.

The resort is well maintained, clean, and comfortable. But there are some downsides. The layout is strange, with several buildings quite a way from the nearest available parking. The kitchen is a joke: tiny counter and no cooktop, although the resort loaned an electric skillet. No dish drainer. No colander. No cooking utensils. The storm drains are clogged, which creates deep puddles that are impossible to avoid (e.g., when taking the hike from the room to the car). A lot of light bleeds through and around the blinds. There's the usual pressure to attend a sales presentation, which is not a good way to start a vacation!!! But the rooms are spacious and otherwise functional.

Nice spacious room with good amenities. Grounds well kept. Comfortable bed.

The PARKING! Literally a ten minute walk to and from parking area. Also, hard to get water temperature in shower.

The room was very spacious and well lit, I appreciated the 24 hour valet service, and the fact that you can text the front desk.

The only things I would change is the lobby was quite outdated and more importantly we had quite a few run ins with ants in our room. Anytime we left food (even if it was packaged) on the counter or table a few hours later the whole thing was covered in ants as well as the sink.
