"Ok experience"

SPI has slipped quite a bit as being a first class resort. The pool cushions are stained and torn in many instances. Safety issues include no working phone in our room, no railing down to the outdoor pool, and no railing to get into the hot tub. Breakfast was delicious but our server didn’t offer coffee refills or inquire whether everything was okay. Front desk staff was lackluster with no greetings or smiles. We are repeat customers of many years so it makes us sad to observe the decline. Thank you.

Loved this place. Breakfast was excellent. The whole property was very adorable.

The room decor seems very outdated, like from the 70s.

We enjoyed our stay at The Spruce Point Inn. The room was very spacious, quiet and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast at The Stagg, and the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. The views are amazing! I wish we had more time to enjoy the property!

Highly recommend for families or couples looking to be close to Boothday Harbor activity but feel like you are your own little island. Recommend the boat rides available on site with picnic option! Wonderful and affordable stay!

"Wonderful but underutilized potential"

4.0

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. The location and surroundings are stunning, but the hotel and grounds are not maintained very well. I’m not sure if some of the other accommodations have been updated, but the Bluebird where we stayed did not match the nightly rate we paid. Mold on the bathroom ceilings, a leak in bathroom, very outdated furnishings and fixtures and there were no “special” touches perhaps aside from the artwork. Fireplace didn’t seem to work, no WiFi availability, no robes provided and no safe for valuables. Also lacking was any sort of hotel binder with basic and relevant information (the website and texts are helpful but not without WiFi in room). Also maid service was lacking as well. Most of the staff we came across were very friendly but restaurant service was very slow at food subpar. The pools and hot tub were dirty. This place has SO much potential but desperately needs a spruce up (no pun intended).

"Great stay"

8.0

The location is absolutely stunning and I love the laid back vibes. The decor and rooms are a bit dated but clean and very spacious. There are forest trails that are wonderful for walking dogs or just enjoying nature. I also loved all the chairs that were placed around to relax and enjoy the view. We only ate at the Salty Stag once and found the service so terrible that we didn’t try again. The staff were overly attentive to a large family gathering and we were left alone. Two hours and all we got were our entrees and one glass of water despite all my attempts to flag down someone to bring us a dessert menu or another round. The biggest strike against this place is that there appear to be absolutely no boundaries for any of the dozens of toddlers running around. The ocean side pool was fantastic and beautiful with a large jacuzzi. Unfortunately, every time we tried to enjoy it there were toddlers in floaties using it as a bathtub, doing cannonballs into it, or playing with literal bath toys. They dive under the water and touch your legs. Their parents even let them eat snacks while sitting in there (loved digging soggy goldfish crackers out of my swimsuit bottoms). It’s great that this place is welcoming to families with young children. But families with no children and older children should have a space to relax and decompress too. The forest side pool is very clearly geared toward families with small children but they were at the pool with a bar instead. I recommend they make the forest pool more enticing for kids and families and set the minimum age for use of the ocean side jacuzzi at 16.

"Love/Hate with Spruce Point"

Loved the property; did not like the townhouse where we stayed. We were unable to connect to wi-fi the entire five days we were there. It was nice to take walks every day around the property. It is not; however, within walking distance of town.
