Grand Park Royal Cozumel - All Inclusive

The staff was great. The food was good, but it isn’t good for elderly people with walking problems. The pavement is rough and several people fell including me while I was there. The rooms were wonderful. Everything was very clean. I would’ve given it a 10 except for the pathways and no handrails you’re definite in another country there because that wouldn’t be allowed in the United States purchased the points through Royal holiday I think that they could make some inexpensive changes by adding handrails or using concrete leveler. I heard talk of remodeling while I’m there so I can’t wait to go back when they get some of it done and I think if you’re Mobile you would love it.

Great location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very spacious, although the beds are on the smaller side. The property is very large, many pool areas to choose from however unfortunately other guests would wake up early to claim their pool bed for the day and leave their belongings there which meant we often missed out on getting a spot by the pool.

Food is average at best, we found ourselves going into town for meals rather than eat the all inclusive meals. We were on the first floor so a lot of noise from other guests walking through the hotel.

Depending on your intentions in Cozumel, the location may or may not be ideal. To us the location was perfect as it was easy access to the dive shop we used all week, Cozumel Marine World. It is between downtown and the private beaches toward the south where we spent some time relaxing and parasailing. You can walk from downtown to the Grand Park Royal in about 30-40 minutes. It cost $10 one way for a taxi to down town and about $12 to airport. The taxi fare to the private beaches down south were about $18-$20. We never tried to haggle about the price although I’m sure you could. The beach area was very nice and offered great ocean views. One of the cruise ship docks was just across from us so you got to see the ships coming in every morning and leaving in the afternoons. Some may not want to see this. It didn’t bother us. We had a pool view room which was very pleasant to observe with the tropical environment inside the resort. There was a lot of palm and other trees. Really relaxed vibe that we enjoyed a lot. We may get the ocean view if we ever go back The all inclusive food and drink options were plentiful. When we ate at the hotel, we had no complaints. We were not expecting the quality of food that was available as the reviews we read ahead of our stay was very mixed. The buffet restaurant is where we ate mostly and enjoyed the food. There was plenty of variety. Breakfast was here also and was excellent. The menu restaurants were nice but not many options. The hotel had live entertainment each night which started in the central common area and moved to the theater for the main show. We were there during Carnaval so we got to see some amazing celibrational shows at the hotel. Our 16 year old daughter was able to meet and socialize with other teens her age. She really enjoyed going to the shows and staying out dancing with the other girls she met here. There was plenty of things to keep her occupied here. This turned out to be a big plus for us.

The outside stone walkways throughout the resort were not pleasant to walk on. The stones are not even and would be a nightmare for anyone with sore foot/ankle or disabilities. However you didn’t have to worry about slipping. The main pool water had a slight hazy green tent to it. The water was cold so not many people actually using it. It was middle of February so kind of expected. You have to wear a stupid bracelet the whole duration of your stay. Once they put it on, you cannot loosen it without braking the clasp/bead that holds it in place. It can however tighten up on you, which it did to me on a dive trip. I had to break the bead to loosen it up. After that I almost lost the bracelet a couple of times. They told us if we lost it, then they would charge you $100 to replace it. It was mandatory for you to wear it at all times. They said if it needed adjustment the. You could go to the front desk and they would do it, I didn’t bother.

It was dirty, the food wasn’t good the buffet was the worse I’ve seen. The place is very dated the
