SpringHill Suites by Marriott Austin South

I like this property and have stayed there before. This time I was initially assigned a room that had a weird, stale smell. Was promptly given another room that smelled fine. As I went to iron my clothes a few minutes later, I found that the iron was broken. Tried to call for a new one, but the phone line was out. They gave me another iron, but the phone remained like that the four days I was there. The place is generally in great shape, and the service was excellent. I love the full breakfasts, and I had no issues getting them to remove the tax from my bill (as I work for an agency that pays no tax). Not sure how often they clean the rooms, but it only happened once in the four days I was there.

Upon arrival our room was scoring hot. We turned on the AC and started unpacking all of our things and once fully unpacked I went into the bathroom and the toilet had not been cleaned nor the bathroom sink as it had what looked like pubic hair. On top of all of that the refrigerator was not working so the food we brought to our room ruined. The next morning I let the front desk know of all of these issues and she apologized and said that it would be taken care of. We left at 9:00am and didn’t come back until 4:00om and there had been no changes to our dirty room and a refrigerator that did not work the entire time that we were there. When we checked out the front desk lady said that there was nothing that could be done about it but she would talk to her manager. Needless to say I never heard a word back from anyone. I would never stay somewhere that had such poor customer service and such bad hotel experience.

Enjoyed the short stay.

Bed lining on both beds were disgusting.

Cleaning room service not good

The area was easily accessible from the highway. Although next to the highway, it still quiet. We enjoyed our one night stay.

The road noise was loud. There was a sewer smell and it needs a Little update on the flooring

Property is run down and outdated

Bed sheets smelled bad. Seemed damp. Grossed me out. Sofa stained. However, I did not complain because it was only one night and I did not want to have to switch rooms late at night. We were out the majority of the night and just left a short while before checking out.

The lobby looks very nice, but when we got to the room, the toilet was running and never fully flushed. There were stains in the shower and the towels by the sink had a yellow tint. Housekeeping never came to the room during the three day stay, so we had to find them to request new towels. There is no insulation in the walls, so you can hear every time a door opens and closes all the way down the hall. Housekeeping, despite never coming to the room, likes to vacuum around 8:00 am, so that will wake you up. Breakfast was good, but they never put out enough for the guests. People were standing around and waiting for food and several people asked for muffins. The woman brought out 6 (at least 10 people had asked for them) and then one lady took them all and there were never more muffins brought out. We were told several times that more eggs would be ready in 10 minutes, but after waiting 25 minutes, I gave up and went back to the room. This could have been a much nicer hotel (especially for a Marriott), but it also could have been worse
