Alila Ventana Big Sur

Great location, awesome staff, beautiful property, dog-friendly, and lots of great amenities. Highly recommended.

So close to being great but just not there. For the price, it should compete with resorts like One and Only or Rancho Valencia. It falls well short. The setting and views are spectacular and the staff is warm and friendly. The rooms are nice but not quite at the level of the competition. The single restaurant has a great setting and friendly service but the food is just fine but not at the level of alternative resorts. The big miss with this property is the spa. With the setting, a world class spa would make this resort a true destination. Unfortunately the spa here is a C+ at best. The facility is tiny with cabanas that were installed on a low budget years ago. The entire spa is small enough that it can’t accommodate a lot of daily treatments so it’s a bit of a lottery to have a true spa weekend. The locker and changing facilities consist of two single-use bathrooms and the sauna is comparable to one you could buy at Costco. Overall, a tragic miss for such a spectacular setting. Even a quarter of the facilities of comparably-priced resorts would elevate this property.

Words cannot describe Alila. The setting is beautiful, the staff is excellent, the food was 5-star and they offer many great experiences beyond the resort. I've traveled the world and I can honestly say the Alila is in the top 5 of my list.

Nice property but rooms have horrible sound proofing between floors. I know the hotel cant control what people are doing at 1am but it makes for a rough night if they are walking around for any amount of time. For a very nice hotel they need to address this. Room had a large leak that was very close to soaking all of my luggage which would have been miserable. Luckily we caught it and I moved my suitcase and put a bucket under it.

An amazing stay that the staff went above and beyond for our Babymoon. The property was beautiful and would highly recommend a stay here.

This hotel resort is beyond compare! I chose it because I was longing to stay in a forest setting with ocean views ~ and was it ever! The hotel rooms, staff and restaurant are all really excellent, on par with a natural setting that is beyond compare. I will be dreaming of my next stay, and plan to stay longer!

The grounds are beautiful , the food was incredible and we felt there was plenty of variety. The service was excellent. The room was perfect . And our massages were spectacular!

I had a fabulous experience at Alila. The resort is in such a beautiful area. It's hard to find a location in Big Sur that's not. An abundance of staff pleasantly doing everything they could to make my stay a great experience. The experiences they offer are first rate! My favorites were the falconry class with Antonio, the hike with Jerrod, and the archery class, soapmaking and hatchet throwing.
