Alila Ventana Big Sur

Traveled to Big Sur for an anniversary getaway and so glad we chose to stay at the Alila Ventana Big Sur. It was a perfect, relaxing, enjoyable experience that we certainly hope to replicate in the future. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Food was delicious. The location and the views were amazing. Highly recommend.

The valet driver crashed our rental car and damaged the front fender. They didn’t even bother to tell us. We didn’t notice until we stopped for gas. The hotel later refused to take responsibility. So much for 5 star experience.

I got sick eating at the restaurant, provided dietary restrictions, had it confirmed several times. I couldn't sleep and almost went to hospital.l by the pain. Celiac. I ordered breakfast the next day, again order had gluten. 3rd time delivery took 1.5 hours with ETA 30 mins and came with many items missing. I didnt enjoy my stay as I got sick because of the dietary restrictions not being followed by staff.

Another excellent stay at the Alila Ventana Big Sur. Service, food and room quality were excellent. We'll be back again next year!

My wife and I visited Alila Ventana Big Sur in early December 2025 and had a amazing time. I'd heard that the property was Hyatt's top property in the 48 states and was a little skeptical before arriving, but would now agree with that claim. The staff is exceptional. The food is exceptional. And the property and location are unmatched in our experience. Alila Ventana is very down to earth and a place to relax, unwind, go on terrific hikes, relax by the pool, or soak in the hot tub. If you're looking for a glitzy or ritzy experience, look elsewhere. But if you want to be surrounded by nature and have a truly relaxing, quiet, and stress free experience - in one of nature's most spectacular locations - then I would highly recommend Alila Ventana Big Sur.

It is beyond outrageous that the Ventana charges $3000 per night. It's absurd. I stayed here years ago under different management when the costs were above average but tolerable around $480 per night for a standard room. But it's plan apparently is to weed out the average person and cater the to the 1% super wealthy. which is so unethical and immoral really. Big Sur was a wonderful community available to all...Ventana has created a cesspool of divisiveness an non inclusion...which has hurt and isolated the community. Making it a them vs us. This mentality of opulent exclusion is detrimental to society at large.

Just spent an unforgettable 3-night stay at Alila Ventana Big Sur (Nov 24–27) and I’m still in awe! ✨🌲🌊 We flew in the day before and stayed at the Hyatt Carmel in Monterey, where we also had a wonderful experience. They even upgraded us to a complimentary ocean-view room to accommodate my husband’s disability since there are lots of stairs/steps — such thoughtful service. 💙🌊 At Ventana, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We arrived early and were able to enjoy the resort right away — soaking in the Japanese bath tub, relaxing by the pool, and indulging in their amazing inclusive dining. The hot tubs and pools are open 24/7 and clothing optional only at Japanese bath house and the pool next to it. We had a welcome drink at the Social House…Moët & Chandon champagne 🍾 and surprised with a huge complimentary suite upgrade! Waking up to those breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean during breakfast/brunch and ending each day with a beautiful dinner was pure magic. 🌅✨ Highly recommend this whole trip if you’re looking for a serene, luxurious escape. Already dreaming of going back! 💛

This is one of our all-time favorite places to stay! All-inclusive and in the redwoods… you can’t beat this. We enjoyed filet, wine and sorbet at dinner, with our server Juan Alvarez. Thank you Juan, you are something special!!! Can’t wait to come back and visit again

We had an amazing stay at Alila. It exceeded all my expectations. Upon check in we were upgraded to a pacific house suite, and the addition of having our own hot tub was such a great perk, we never even ended up using any of the other pools since we had our own. The staff was amazingly helpful, and made it feel like a 5 star property. The lack of variety at the sur house never bothers us because the quality of the food was so good, for 3 nights we could try a variety of things and were happy every single night. Waiting on a golf cart was never an issue, I don't think we waited longer than 5 minutes ever; and they said they were at 90% occupancy while we were there so I don't understand the complaints about waiting. It's a beautiful property that feels 5 star. I wish there were more free experiences every day, as is true of other all inclusives, but I recognize this is not your typical property.

DO NOT BOOK! They canceled our booking TWICE! We had our honeymoon trip planned months in advance and a week before our booking, they canceled our reservation because “they overbooked.” We had to change our flights and trips, so we rebooked and then they canceled a second time! No reason! The customer service is terrible. I don’t understand how they can treat customers like this- we are once again at a loss and have to replan everything. They cost us money and stress and did nothing to make it better. Do not waste your time.
