Taj Bentota Resort & Spa

We were a group of three couples travelling with three infants and a kid, not the easiest crowd to accomodate, yet Chef Jasvir Singh and his team made our dining experience absolutely impeccabe, not one day but everytime we went for dinning. A special mention to Harith, our server who was exceptionally warm and attentive. We vacationed in May 2025 as well, and we still remember how Harith and Dushini went above and beyond to make us feel at home, Their consistency, work ethic and genuine hospitality are truly remarkable. We would also like to sincerely thank Sachith, our room boy, who kept our room neat, tidy and extremely comfortable throughout our stay. The staff and property are highly recommended for anyone travelling with infants and kids. The level of care, patience and child friendly approach makes it truly stressfree and comfortable vacation for families. These hardworking people who make us visit Taj Bentota over and over again. We left extremely happy and satisfied. Highly recommended and a heatful thank you to the entire team for making us feel so welcome and at home.

Beautiful property Sea facing balconies Prettiest private beach The personal touch of Taj is renowned But what puts the cherry on this already coveted stay is how Chef Dalip Singh adds his personal touch to make the stay elevated with his warm gesture and special attention towards his guests Starting from a personal walk through of the buffet to making scrumptious tanduri prawns followed by delectable mango coconut mouse and the added attention from staff and cannot not mention the numbers by the violinist makes you feel pampered and on the top of the world

We had a fantastic 10 days here at the beginning of Dec, we had booked a normal sea view room but on arrival found that the hotel had upgraded us to a larger room with a much bigger balcony with sun loungers and a tables and chairs as well a stunning view of the beach and sunsets. Unfortunatley the refit of the Palms restaurant had not been completed (something which TUI whom we booked the holiday with should have made us aware of!!) so we didn`t get to try out the new restaurant. The hotel is in a stunning location with easy access to both beaches, the rooms and grounds are kept immaculate. It is such a relaxing & peaceful place. Service throughout our stay was excellent every colleague that we passsed greeted us and often enquired about how our stay was and what are plans for the day were. Pool service was excellent on arrival at the pool your greeted & the pool guy brings fresh mattresses and towels to the loungers you choose, drinks service round the pool was also excellent. We loved the food, it tasted great and there was very really good variety, the waiters and often the chefs pop over to check that you are ok and will make reccomendations or bring you tasters, they also offer you additional menus if there`s not something on the buffet or ala carte menu that you wanted. We spent time at the beginning of December and the hotel seemed fairly quiet & very relaxing, in the evening we had drinks outside at the shack retaurant and visited the tease bar where there is great variety of drinks and a couple of pool tables. Reception were very helpful and if you needed any tips on where to book trips or plans for days out then they were on hand 24/7. There are a few shops on site including a currency exchange service and you can get cigarettes from the bar. The hotel doesn`t serve any alcohol on Pooya days but they sent up a bottle of wine and some beers to the room for us the day before which was unexpeted and a really nice touch. This was our 1st trip to Sri Lanka and we really enjoyed our time here, the Taj was fantastic and really added to the experience, we would def recommend and would def return at some point in the future all in all a 5* experience with a big shout out to the colleagues too many interactions to name apart from our room guy Sriyantha who apart from keeping the room immaculate also managed a different towel art animal every day & checked in with us regularly to see if we needed anything. WI-FI coverage at the hotel was excellent with great speed and signal anywhere in the hotel areas including the pool. Bentota seems well placed for venturing out and there were lots of trips available with pickups from the hotel, we booked through Get your Guide and Viatours and these were routed through Bentota Travel Mart which was also excellent. 1 very small point I would change is that we were on and All Inclusive package and unfortunately it meant that we had to wear a cheap blue plastic wristband, come on Taj surely you can come up with a nicer wristband & one that doesn`t look so tacky when you are outside of the hotel ( other premium all incs often have traditional style bracelets to id all inc guests) maybe wooden mala bead style since you have to sign for everything even as an all inc guest i cant see that this would prove too much of an issue& is easy really to resolve. Tx for helping make our 1st trip to Sri Lanka such a memorable one

I have been staying in Taj at many places. I would say this Taj was a shade short of a typical Taj experience. The responses to the requests were sluggish. A typical Taj eagerness to make guest comfortable by going that extra mile was missing. Some of the requests were bluntly denies. Apart from this, fantastic location, clean and hygienic rooms and decent food (thanks to chef Jaspreet, who promptly helped with hot fresh items) made our stay memorable. Rooms had a good view of the sea.

We had an outstanding stay at the Taj Bentota. It's a well established hotel and while there was some renovation work ongoing to the main restaurant when we visited; we hardly noticed or were bothered by it. A superb location, almost private beach and to top it all impeccable, warm and considerate service. A great break that we are keen to repeat when possible

We had a great 5 nights stay in Taj Bentota (Nov end). Staff were really courteous and helpful. I would specially like to mention below people who made sure our stay was memorable: 1. Chef Dalip Singh: He was just brilliant. He took so much care of our 14 months old daughter and prepared baby food with utmost perfection. His behavior was exceptional, and he went above and beyond to customize aby foods for our daughter. 2. Steward Sam - His was very courteous and very well behaved. 3. Housekeeping Malawana - He was very humble and kind and made sure our room was always clean and tidy and filled with amenities. Overall, a great stay and experience and we would love to come back again.

From the check in experience onwards we were treated to a luxury and pampered feel which we were looking forward to. We checked in early and while our room was being arranged, we were guided to the lounge where tea and afternoon snacks were given complimentary while we had the view of the sea - beautiful. Once settled into our garden view room (which has a lovely sage-green and dark wood design, clean and had no visible wear - well maintained), we explored the resort. Walking around was fun and felt like a true resort, having made it through the pool, beach, fitness centre (which has a sauna and steam room for each gender!). We had early dinner with a beach view from the Palm restaurant on the ground level, then after sunset proceeded to use the pool which is a wonderful size for doing laps through, and even has water polo nets! We rounded off our evening in the resort's sauna's in the fitness centre then ordered desserts via room service (prices in the menu were already tax and service inclusive), which allowed us to have a peaceful night. In the morning we enjoyed the lavish breakfast buffet where we had the opportunity to meet some of the lovely folks in the F&B team, our server Asiri, the live-chef Mahi, and the manager Tharupathi. - Asiri was extremely attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed during our breakfast, he went above and beyond with the care we received and we felt true Sri Lankan hospitality in his service. - Chef Mahi made a dish for myself which was not on the table (Milk Hoppers) and served us freshly sliced mango which was not available on the buffet selection - he care felt that he truly loved making guests happy with food. Last, - Tharupathi made sure that we were extremely happy with the experience and spent the time to converse about our travels in Sri Lanka - we wish we had stayed longer to have gotten to know him and his team better. We would highly recommend this resort to family and friends of all ages to soak in the beauty and tranquility of Bentota in the West Coast

The hotel's location is ideal with easy access to the beach and a surfing school next door. Chef Dalip Singh, Chef Jasveer Singh pampered us with delicious indian food. Sam and Asiri outstanding service at the Palms restaurant along with a lot of their team members who I am forgetting to name! Reena at the spa was very professional and excellent. Kids really felt at home (maybe pampered a lot more that what they usually get!) Small requests like a mango by my little one or a waffle by the older one were met with a smile and always fulfilled. The team at Taj Bentota really made it a great holiday start for us. Highly recommend - especially if you are looking for lip smacking indian food and impeccable hospitality in Srilanka !

The food was absolutely wonderful, and Chef Dalip Singh truly took great care of us throughout. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You could feel the attention, warmth, and dedication in each bite, making the entire dining experience memorable. Chef DALIP Singh’s hospitality and passion for his craft made us feel special, and the meal was not just food but a genuinely comforting and enjoyable experience. Damith was also really helpful

We had an excellent stay here at Taj! We had 4 rooms (410, 415, 519 and 520) which were kept to a high standard and felt luxurious. The food was very delicious and the whole experience was enriched thanks to the very friendly and accomodating staff. Special thanks to Janith, Sam and restaurant manager (Damith) for really making this such a magnificent and beautiful stay. These three individuals catered towards our every need and really made us feel special and valued. They worked tirelessly to ensure that our stay was memorable and really deserve recognition for their efforts!
