"Lovely resort , but a few issues"

We always come back year after year , it’s a beautiful resort . We normally come in Feb , but decided to do Jan instead , it wasn’t busy which was nice because we were able to get seats at the pool wherever we wanted . The reason we come to this resort is because of the staff , they deserve recognition. Pamela at the buffet always smiling and recognizing us as soon as we walk in . Olivier and Ringo and Orlando at the buffet for always graciously serving and entertaining us on a daily basis . The pool waiters , Marco for always going out of his to get whatever we wanted , he deserves a big raise , Gabriel always smiling , Mariano always so attentive never had a empty glass Gama and Rodrigo , friendly and gracious . There is also Miguel from the pizzeria, he kept us entertained one night and introduced us to some new drinks , they were amazing ! We also had dinner at the Buffet a few times , we had amazing service from Marco , Ricardo and Ruben, so entertaining , the drinks were amazing . Now the negatives , We had booked an terrace room and decided to upgrade to a ocean view terrace, it was nice but was never cleaned properly , one day we found a comb that was made into the bed and it didn’t belong to us . The bar fridge was never refilled , we had to ask and the area around was never cleaned . Now our terrace wasn’t clean either , the furniture is old and need of repair , I understand it’s the weather outside and can’t be helped , but we did pay to upgrade and expect a certain level of cleanliness. The food was always consistent at the Buffet, no complaints , Punta Sol was not impressed this time had the same meal as last year , didn’t even compare , the Italian was good and the seafood was alright , the service at these three has really gone down , sorry to say . The lobby bar the one place where you expect service , is the slowest , we just went and ordered are own drinks rather than wait for the servers , much faster , and no peanuts or bar mix snacks we had them once , and when we asked , they said they didn’t have any , The bartender there however was great . We went to the other bar embarcadero had one drink , presented nice but not great , we had asked to try Raicilla and they said they didn’t have it . The entertainment group was fun , they always came around and tried to get us to participate in the tastings which were also a lot of fun . All in all we like the Sheraton, and just expect a higher level service that they are known for , it just didn’t meet up to our expectations this time .

"Sunny state at the Sheraton Bougainvilleas"

We had a fabulous week at the Sheraton bougainvillaea in Puerto Vallarta. We have given some other specific restaurant reviews, but we would like to commend the services of the concierge called Edgar. Not only was he always there in the morning, but always smiling and always ready to help. He has good listening skills and was always very helpful. Sometimes we were at his desk more than once a day and he seemed always extremely happy to answer our questions . If you happen to visit the Sheraton soon, make sure you ask for this concierge’s help. He is great. The Sheraton is like a botanical garden. If you want a place with plants and luscious foliage, this is going to be your hotel. Plants are even identified for those of you who love to learn. The hotel is clean. The public pool bathrooms are clean. The staff is helpful and kind and there is no lack of help to make your stay better. The one of the things we noticed they could improve is that they do not use signs in front of dishes at the buffets indicating whether they are lactose free gluten-free vegan etc. so when you want to look through the multiple options, there is no way to 100% know whether or not there is an allergen in it. The Sheraton would benefit from putting signs in front of their dishes. This would avoid the whole hassle of getting a waiter to go to the kitchen to talk to the chef to look at the dish and then come back to the client. It got to the point that it was a little bit embarrassing for me to keep asking so I kept eating the same thing. Just doing that would make the clients feel safer and would free up the kitchen, staff and the waiting stuff that is already working so hard. That being said, I must admit that each time I asked for a gluten-free dish. I got an amazing one.

"Kudos to Alan and Aldo at Punta Sal"

Aldo & Alan were literally part of our trip experience! They are part of our stories every time we talk about our latest trip to Vallarta! They made us smile, laugh…they made our whole experience a blast! We celebrated my daughter’s 14th birthday and they never missed a beat. Endlessly grateful for meeting such wonderful humans and we wish them a beautiful life & career!! Kudos to the hotel for having these outstanding people in their team!!

"Beautiful Hotel and Grounds but Pool Water WAAAAY TOO HOT!"

On the plus side: The Sheraton Buganvilia is a beautiful facility and the grounds are immaculate. The Sunday Brunch is good and the wait staff, particularly, Juan, Erika and Joel, are really wonderful and fun. On the negative side: the biggest problem with the Sheraton is that their two beautiful pools are kept way too warm . . . really almost HOT. The water feels unhealthy to swim in and it is not at all refreshing. Many of us complained but the water remained way too warm for our entire stay, making swimming unpleasant. At the same time, the beach was posted as "unsafe for swimming." So that was a big negative.

"Wonderful …again"

Had another great time at the Sheraton. I have written a few reviews in the past so I won’t repeat myself. We stayed in the Master Suite and just love having all that room . Our son and his finance stayed in a basic room with a terrace. The hotel is starting to show its age in many ways and could use more upgrades. My review is going to focus on the best part of the Sheraton — that is the staff. The staff there are phenomenal. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I will start with Edwin who helped us make the reservations over email. He is wonderful to deal with. Edgar, the concierge who booked the restaurants in the morning, had a smile every day and was very efficient and helpful. He is a gem. His English is very good. The staff at the club lounge were great as usual especially Ephrain (I think that’s how it is spelled). At the front desk both Cesar and Bryano were very helpful and professional. The pool waiters were great - especially Mariano. Jesus at the Gaviotas restaurant went above and beyond. Jesus, we hope you enjoy your trip to Winnipeg. Aldo, Alan and Freddy at the Italian restaurant were very solicitous, efficient and friendly. Vanessa at the lounge was excellent. Always remembered our drinks. I have one complaint and that was the lack of service to our mini bar. If we didn’t ask for refills we didn’t get refills. I thought it was supposed to happen every day or two very other day. I drink Diet Pepsi in the morning so I started getting a can at night at the bar to take to our fridge so I would have one in the morning. This was our first time there since you added the steak house. The food there was tremendous. We really enjoyed it. We liked the location — right on the beach. The decor is very modern. The waiters there were good too but I can’t remember their names. Your staff are what made our trip special. We have seen many of them many times over the years and many of them are long term employees. They genuinely love their jobs. Even some of the new ones — like the younger towel boys — took pride in their jobs. I predict that one of the towel guys will move up to a better job soon — I wish I remembered his name — he had a friendly smile and decent English. It wasn’t too busy when we were there but it sure was annoying when people would reserve the best spots at the pool and then go for a 2 hour breakfast or whatever. Or when they would reserve a spot on the beach under a palapa and a spot by the pool and go back and forth hardly using either spot. I know it’s hard for the hotel to do something about that. People really can be selfish! I reserved my chair but was never away from it for more than 15 minutes (to go to the washroom or to go book a restaurant). People would literally throw their towels on a chair and disappear for 3 hours. All in all we had a great 2 weeks with you. I talked to other guests who have been coming to the Sheraton for 20 years! You have a loyal following. Keep hiring and training excellent staff and do your best to retain your existing loyal stuff. Your exceptional staff are one reason we keep coming back. They welcomed us back and made us feel welcome. We were thanked many times for being a Marriott Bonvoy member. We liked coming here because we know what to expect and we are familiar with the hotel and the surrounding area. We have stressful jobs in Canada where we work with people and we enjoy literally doing nothing for 2 weeks. We enjoy your amazing restaurants so much that we only ate outside of the hotel once. Last year we stayed at Harbor 171 (nearby) as we couldn’t get the Master Suite when we wanted to come and we ate at restaurants all around PV. We can honestly say that your restaurants are better than most other restaurants we have tried. The food is great but more importantly the service is tremendous. This trip we really enjoyed the ceasar salad with shrimp for lunch by the pool! So tasty!! I was a little disappointed that there is an extra fee for room service (your policy in that regard has flipped back and forth in the last 7 or 8 years we have been coming). We hope to return again some time.

"The Perfect Winter Getaway!"

Our annual trip to the resort was lovely. Clean accommodations, a beautiful view of the ocean and gardens, and wonderful staff. In particular I’d like to mention Juan and Erika who made our breakfasts so welcoming every morning, Gama who is always so attentive poolside, Jonathon our patient waiter in Punta Sal and Esmeralda in the spa who made the experience so relaxing. Thank you all for another amazing trip!

"Relaxing resort, Amazing staff & Great experience"

I had a great stay at this all-inclusive resort and would absolutely recommend it, especially for couples or adults traveling without young kids. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the crowd tends to be on the older side, which made it perfect if you’re looking for a calm, laid-back vacation rather than a party resort. The highlight of the stay was definitely the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, and they truly made the experience special. A huge shoutout to Luis, who ran the pool activities and volleyball, he brought so much energy and made everything so fun. Also Orlando in the buffet restaurant was amazing: friendly, attentive, and always made us feel taken care of. Overall, it was a wonderful experience with great service, a peaceful vibe, and staff that genuinely go above and beyond. I’d happily return!
