Kona Coast Resort

Shell Vacations Resort @ Kona Coast Resort II is a superb venue. It is beautiful, well organized and maintained. The staff/team-members are gracious, polite and extremely helpful, they quickly respond to requests and provide answers to questions. This resort is in a great spot on the Kona Coast, and it has some spectacular views.

It is located in a huge complex, with facilities such as swimming pools, hottub, volleyball court. But we didn't really use any of these. Large place.

Discounts provided for external activities though a 90 min promotion tour is required. We didn't go and didn't book our snorkeling tour via the property. The room is kinda wet, carpet looks dark and old.

Everything is good

For not having an ocean view room, and viewing the golf course, we had an amazing view on a very nice lanai. Our condo was amazingly quiet. We spent every morning enjoying all the birds and their wonderful sounds on the lanai.

The terrace restaurant was fine. The staff was always great. But I would suggest that you have a little higher quality food. The barbecued chicken sandwich was just OK and the hamburger felt like something I would get at a Rotary fundraising barbecue.

Check out time of 10AM is a bit early. Once out of the room allow people to spend time at the pool before they have to catch flights, including access to the pool bathrooms without a room key. This costs you nothing and will bring more business to your pool restaurant. Provide 2 lounge chairs on the back patio of the room, not just one.

Very clean rooms and facilities, staff were fabulous, quick to respond and accommodating, felt like a tight-knit community with other guests, gorgeous location, very walkable to the most unique and mouth watering donut store (just make sure you get there before ~8:30am because they sell out lightening fast), other restaurants and a grocery store (with a variety of poke) is in the same strip mall with the donut store up the hill so it's very convenient. The pool and hot tub were amazing, Sunset Terrace had great food with live music every evening -- such a treat. Optional activities provided at the resort were perfect and well organized (we did the leaf lei, gecko keychain and plant press painting).

This was a wonderful resort. Spacious, full kitchen, well stocked with cooking utensils, easy to get in and out only a 1/2 stairway to climb or descend. We had 2 units and they where able to put us together with an advanced request. I would love to go back there again. Not enough time with plenty to do.
