We loved the location. The 2 bedroom suite was spacious and comfortable.

There was an employee strike happening. No valet parking available. Parking TOO expensive for self parking. Room was not as clean as expected. Had guest self service to stock rooms. For the cost of the stay that should not be the case. The strikers were very loud. Many times disturbing sleep.

"HOTEL WORKERS ON STRIKE - DO NOT STAY"

2.0

You cannot stay here. The hotel workers are on strike. No housekeeping, front desk service only 12pm-5pm, no pool bar, restaurants bare boned. Employees still working are unfamiliar with property (brought in to keep it running). On top of these more minor details, the strikers mean BUSINESS. They have drums, they have megaphones, they have air horns. They chant and picket loudly from 6am-10pm at ALL public parts of the property. This means all entrances, this means the lagoon, this means the public beach that is next to the pools. You can hear them at surrounding hotels, which means right now the decibel level is untenable. Our family made it 1 night before we realized how quiet the rest of Waikiki was. Feel free to remove this review after the strike ends - as the property looked cool and this review is so topical. But I hope hotels.com lets this stay up while the strike is ongoing because the strike is important -- but it also seriously degrades this hotel experience -- and I want people to know.

We stayed during the worker strike, which started a day after we checked in and continued well past our check-out (6 night stay). The property itself was fine, no complaint; unfortunately the strike will be the significant memory from our stay. Also, apparently this was the 2nd strike within a very short amount of time; so it seems Hilton needs to get its act together with their employees. Obviously our stay was impacted by the strike, but overall the striking workers were respectful to the guests; e.g. crossing picket lines, etc. Of course some guests will complain, but the workers have to do what they have to do and I'm in no position to judge. Main impacts were... No housekeeping during the strike. The hotel did provide clean towels and linens, but placed them in a room where guests had to fetch themselves. We stayed in the Lagoon tower and each floor had such a room for linens--not sure about other towers. We were in a suite with a kitchen and we did some cooking; so trash started to accumulate very quickly. We had to put our trash out into the hall way and fetch new trash bags ourselves. No big deal, but not a good vibe when hallways are filled with trash bags. Noise in early mornings and late evenings. Again, workers need to do what they need to do. This meant chanting, mega horns, sirens, drums starting around 7am until around 10pm every day. This woke up my kids and impacted our itinerary since they needed naps in the day. Others, but going to hit word limit....

"Please do not visit ANY portion of Hilton Village area!"

2.0

We did not enjoy a moment on the property. There is a huge strike by workers and they are in large numbers all over the properties using bullhorns and screaming from 7am until 10pm, my MIL didn't feel comfortable walking alone. No room services at all - towels and trash left out. Had to buy our own toilet paper! No heads up and no one to speak with. $85 resort fee for what exactly?? Hilton honors member even but will never stay here again.

This was the first time I stayed at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and it has a lot of shops, restaurants and amenities within the property. The pool is beautiful and fun for the kids. On the other hand the workers were on strike and we were not notified in advance. When I arrived at the hotel with my elderly parents, daughter and teen nephew/niece we were appalled to see the line for check in. We stayed on line for about an hour after a long flight from NY. When we checked in we were informed that there was no cleaning service and that we have to go to the 12 floor for linens, soap, toilet paper, etc. Due to the constant noise we weren't able to enjoy our stay. We couldn't sleep because the strikers began chanting with loud speakers and drums at 6:00am and ended between 9:30pm-10:30pm every day we were there. We could not sit at the balcony, or relax by the pool because of the noise. The restaurant by the pool was closed so whenever the kids got hungry we have to leave the premises to get food. We were also told that we have to leave the garbage on the hallway which made the hotel looked like a cheap motel. We should’ve been informed of the situation prior to our arrival so we could’ve made an informed decision, but expedia nor hilton contacted us. I wish I could have left a better review but the whole strike ruined our vacation.

To start out, all the workers were on strike. While checking in at main lobby there was a musician nearby that had the speaker so loud you could barely hear what was being said. We waited 2hrs for our room to be ready after check-in. We waited another half hour to just get on an elevator. There was no maid service, no valet, etc. The workers that were on strike thought it would be useful to shout with bullhorns 15hrs a day to get their message out. The pools were open but obviously dirty, the pool bars and restaurants were all closed. If you were looking for a nice, enjoyable, peaceful vacation this was far from it. Basically you had to leave early in the morning(before 7am) and stay out late (after 10pm) if you didn't want to hear chanting on bullhorns. I was very disappointed and most likely will never go back to Hilton Hawaiian Village.

"Not a great place to stay. Stay away until the staff have finished these strikes."

1.0

We had one day that we had our room serviced and amenities that we paid for.

We arrived the day before the housekeeping staff went on an open ended strike. The first day was amazing from there on it was challenging. The rest of our holiday we had striking workers on horns, megaphones and chanting from 6.00 am to 10.00pm everyday. The striking workers wandered around the resort any time of the day or night chanting even had drums at times. We had paid for full room service but what we got was hallways littered with rubbish and dirty towels. No room service, had to find our own clean towels and other supplies we had paid for. No way of cleaning our room, the floors were dirty. There were cafes at the pools closed. This was our 3rd trip to this resort and we had recommended it to lots of our family and friends. Never again as we were told that there had been a strike for 3 days a few weeks ago. We were given a small refund but certainly not enough to compensate for the inconvenience and more so the noise from day light until late. No apologies from management it seems they were happy to let it go on. The receptionist was apologetic but they are not in a position to do anything.

The property was nice and the staff were great. My rating was good instead of excellent because of the three days of employees on strike during our stay. Guests should never have to cross a picket line to reach their accommodation. The Hilton corporation should negotiate in better faith to ensure that strike action is never necessary and such that employees are compensated with a fair living wage and benefits.
