"It was wonderful."

10.0

Good breakfast. Perfect location

We were on the second floor facing the street. Perhaps next time Iโ€™ll ask for a room on the back.

"Best place to stay in the Berkshires!"

10.0

This was our second time at The Porches and our experience was just as wonderful as the first. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the facilities are top, and the breakfast is great! The service and friendliness of the staff has always been super and we feel like special guests each time!

"Another wonderful stay at Porches"

10.0

Yet another terrific stay at Porches! This time we braved the cold and went swimming and into the hot tub - warm and toasty. We spent most of our time reading by the fire and were grateful for the staff who kept the wood pile full. The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Can't wait to visit again!

"Singular best experience in a hotel!"

10.0

Across the street from MassMOCA and very easy walking distance to downtown. Great relaxed atmosphere and fun interior decorating in a historic but anti-fussy setting. Very clean and tidy room and hands down the friendliest staff we've experienced in a hotel. We had some issues and they went so far above and beyond to help us out! Really outstanding folks. And the hot tub, heated pool and sauna were so much fun for a December visit! Best hotel experience we've ever had.

"Unique Upscale Lodging Without Breaking the Bank"

10.0

What a WONDERFUL and unique property set in the beautiful little Berkshires town of North Adams! Managed by the same folks who manage the famous Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, the comfort, service, and attention to detail offered is on a par with that offered by the Red Lion or indeed any of the top small hotels/inns of the world. Whereas the Red Lion is more... genteel... Porches is a more... relaxed vibe... more... casual. (Seriously... for those who are able to make the Berkshires a regular or semi-regular getaway destination, I'd definitely recommend staying at BOTH these properties - with Porches located "up North" and the Red Lion Inn located in the middle of the Berkshires. Different experiences, but very similar none the less in terms of the "Contentment Factor.") Both Porches AND the Red Lion Inn offers a special "amenity" treat which isn't commonly found: A YEAR-ROUND FOUR SEASON HEATED OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL as well as a "companion" hot tub! SO relaxing... SO... NEAT in the winter - particularly with snow on the ground surrounding the heated patio! The pool is heated to 85-degrees and the hot tub to 101-degrees. And there's a large "pool house" with a shower, sauna, and TV/game room. (A nicely equipped small gym is located in a separate building.) The main reception area includes a separate living room with roaring fireplace and comfortable chairs and there's a separate dining space where the included buffet breakfast is served and enjoyed. (They even serve lox and everything bagels with cream cheese and "the fixin's!) Nice little buffet. Scrambled eggs... roasted potatoes... (No sausage or bacon, but I'd still term it an "elevated" continental breakfast.) The rooms and suites are well-furnished, roomy (especially the large bathrooms) and extremely comfortable bedding... pillows... and back to the bathrooms, our two-level two-bedroom suite with small living room had two jetted tubs (one for each bedroom) as well as the upper bedroom having a tub/shower combo while the downstairs had a SEPARATE "rainshower" shower. Tons and tons of stuff to do nearby... 40 minute radius... and nothing within the Berkshires is more than an hour or so away (furthest south). Also just a quick hop over the borders of New York and Vermont if you feel like exploring!

"Luxury and convenience at a reasonable price."

9.0

Breakfasts were, as usual, excellent. Dietary needs were attended to. Staff were cordial and helpful. Location is perfect--walking distance to Mass MOCA, and the Clark Institute is a short drive away. Pool, sauna, and hot tub are wonderful luxuries. Porches is our go-to mini-vacation spot.

"Worth it splurge"

10.0

Expensive but understandably so. The heated pool, hot tub, sauna trifecta was worth the price alone. Huge room with balcony and an incredible bathroom. Perfect splurge when going to Mass MOCA.

"Not worth the price"

6.0

The Porches was just ok in my opinion and was very pricey for just ok. I found the room needed maintenance (the shower in particular had moldy caulking) and the amenities like the breakfast were just meh. The location is all it has going for it but even that wasnโ€™t ideal since you still have to drive to MoCA since there is no pedestrian bridge over the river. Save your money and get a place in Williamstown or other nearby town.

"Beautiful charming hotel with lovely staff"

8.0

Everything was top notch and really lovely. You have such a beautiful space and a very dedicated staff. My only issue was when I asked for a late checkout I was offered a 12pm checkout for a fee of $25 and a 1pm checkout for a fee of $40. I thought that was annoying/unnecessary. If the late checkout could not be accomodated simply tell me that. If it could (which clearly it could, because it was offered), for the amount of money I paid to stay there, I do not think there should have been a charge.

"Delighted & delightful"

10.0

We were delighted by our stay at The Porches....best of our visit to the Berkshires. Our room and bath were large enough for two people to move about comfortably. Lots of homey touches, great linens and mattress. We just loved the little bits of humour throughout the place. Breakfast was wonderful too....what's not to like?
