Fairmont St Andrews

Excellent breakfast choices. We looked forward to it. The room had all the facilities required by us. The staff were very polite and helpful.

The lighting in the bar area where rhe evening meals were served was very dim which really did not suit elderly eyes. I do like to be able to read the menu and to see what I am eating.

Hotel was lovely . Spa was nice Staff in the bar areas were not to the standard you expect in a 5star hotel . Italian was better but food for the price defo needs looked at .. Drinks very expensive and no attention to customers - a shambolic meal on a Monday night - chaos as the Italian was closed

Very close to St Andrews and the hotel even have a shuttle bus. Staff were outstanding, very helpful and friendly. Bathroom was very nicely redecorated and modernised.

Spa was dirty, pool was cold. Hair and grim all over the floor and walls of the saunas. The Cucina restaurant was really bad and expensive, I would not recommend. Rooms were dated and tired and when having the view over the carpark for £350 a night it’s very disappointing and you don’t enjoy the stay as much. We had a baby’s travel cot in our room when we don’t have kids which can be very stressful for someone who is maybe struggling to conceive. This should be given as needed.

Swimming pool/spa area looking a bit tired, water was pretty cold. Food options could be improved.

It is a good location, staff were pleasant , communal areas are very smart, and breakfast was fantastic

There was a lack of restaurants open, which meant we were restricted to the one bar / restaurant which meant availability for bookings was limited and we couldn’t eat in the hotel on our second night. Given that this is a five star hotel this was poor and an example of poor management. Clearly there was demand to have additional restaurants open

Room was accessible but long walk to restaurant area and spa which defeated the purpose . The window looked into the front drop off area so not suitable to sit in room with curtains open. Staff were untrained and for example two people when asked couldn't say where the spa was . Showers flooded the bathroom. Very disappointing and wouldn't recommend
