InterContinental Johannesburg O.R Tambo Airport by IHG

An excellent choice for an airport stay before of after a flight. It was only a two minute walk from the airport exit, yet I never heard a plane while in my room. The room was spacious and well equipped and the hotel overall was clean and well maintained.

Intercontinental Johannesburg Airport Hotel Super close to the domestic and International terminal, and I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the hotel and staff were (only because we thought it would be an airport hotel with plentiful visitors). We were warmly greeted at reception, congratulated ok our anniversary trip. - Room; lovely room which was decorated for us as we were celebrating our anniversary on our trip. The bathroom had Byredo products, always a pleasure to use and plenty of drinking water and Nespresso. The rooms are dated but for a one night stay, they are perfectly comfortable. - Restaurant; great selection of food and drinks. The breakfast had a large variety of items too. - Facilities; it’s a large hotel with all the facilities you expect and friendly staff.

A very nice hotel with friendly service and quite above-average dining. Best of all, literally a 90-second walk from the airport. Super convenient.

We stayed overnight following a long flight from Sydney. Our experience was awesome. Greeted on arrival, checked in smoothly, room was lovely - even came with a coffee machine and teapot. Amazing staff, especially our breakfast waiter Wonder. His smile was infectious and his service 5 star. Concierge staff were also very helpful, recommending dinner options and day tours - all with a private driver to ensure our safety and comfort. Highly recommend for anyone travelling to SA.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo! Even though we were only there for one night, everything about our experience was exceptional. The staff are some of the friendliest and most welcoming we’ve ever met. Our room was spacious, spotless, and incredibly quiet—exactly what we needed before our flight. The location couldn’t be more convenient—it’s literally just steps from the airport, which made everything so easy for us. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and both the food and drinks were outstanding. We had dinner at Quills, and it was to die for! Breakfast the next morning included both a buffet and entrée options, and everything was absolutely delicious. Our server was so kind and attentive (I wish I could remember his name!). To make our stay even more special, guest relations surprised us with a romantic honeymoon setup—roses, a slice of chocolate cake, and a bottle of wine. It was such a thoughtful touch and really showed how much they care about their guests. The hospitality here is truly outstanding. When we returned a week later for a quick layover, the team actually remembered us and even recalled details about our trip—that level of care is rare and so appreciated. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you’re flying through Johannesburg, this hotel is an absolute gem!

For our trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, we needed an overnight hotel before being transported to Rovos Rail in Pretoria, SA. We chose this beautiful property because of its proximity to the Joburg airport. After meeting our porter at arrival, we were surprised to discover that the property was just a walk across the street entrance to the airport! This IHG property turned out to be the perfect place to hang out on a layover or an even longer stay. I have one of the best full body massages ever upstairs in their Camelot Spa! My therapist was as professionals and attentive as they come. Her technique totally alleviated my travel worn muscles and put me in relaxed mode for the continuation of our adventure. We stay at many hotels worldwide and this property has great service, amazingly comfortable beds, stellar bathrooms, even in their most basic rooms, friendly and helpful staff, incredible food, great cocktails, spectacular coffee and a comfy lobby to hang out! We appreciated every element of our stay!

Rooms are lovely and comfortable. Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to other reviews. Over cooked dinner and lunch! The chips and prawns were almost inedible. Service also very slow during the day.

Food was a 10/10 - Simon is the best! Truly the nicest. I had a hoarse throat and was losing my voice and he brought me hot lemon water and honey.

I arrived with an injury and staff were kind enough to offer a wheelchair. Staff also assisted in locating a (very hard to find) petrol station at the airport. Rooms nice especially if you get a balcony (a minority of rooms). Restaurant also good. Excellent location before or after a flight as its just outside the main terminal building. Be aware that 90 per cent of Bolt drivers CANT find it despite its obvious location. My only issue is the price - about double what its probably worth.

Third time staying here at this gorgeous hotel steps from the Airport. Delightful greeting with happy staff serving bottled water and warm towel with check in. Rooms are quiet, large, and full of amenities for a comfortable yet luxurious stay. Dinner in the restaurant was again a lovely experience with creative , delicious foods and cocktails and excellent service from Anele! Breakfast is always a highlight with cooked to order and huge buffet options. Service is quick and cheerful. Thank you to Thabile! This hotel is beautifully decorated, well-kept and the flowers and landscaping outside exceptional. Hope to return!
