Excellent service from the breakfast staff. The staff were attentive, friendly and had such a wonderful demeanor. Specifically mentioning the waiter Sinalo, he gave excellent breakfast recommendations and was just all round a joy to see first thing in the morning after a long flight. Thank you. I will be back

Had dinner at their restaurant, Quills. Food was fantastic and service was even better. Our server Cello was top notch!

GREAT hotel just a few steps from the airport. Beautiful decor and rooms. Amazing staff that are so lovely and friendly. Delicious fresh breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel for overnight layovers.

After a 15-hour flight from the U.S., the last thing we wanted was to navigate taxis or transfers. Staying at the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport was the perfect decision—just steps (well, quite a few!) from baggage claim and a welcome oasis of comfort. A special shout-out to the airport employee who kindly assisted one of us in a wheelchair all the way from our Delta arrival gate to the hotel lobby. His kindness set the tone for what followed: exceptional service from the InterContinental staff, who seamlessly took over, checked us in, transferred to a hotel wheelchair, and made sure we were settled in with care and efficiency. Our room was quiet, spacious, and beautifully appointed—exactly what we needed for restorative sleep before heading to Pretoria the next day to board Rovos Rail to Victoria Falls. Room service breakfast was delicious and timely, rounding out a truly smooth and restful experience. If you're arriving on a long-haul flight and heading onward into Southern Africa, this hotel is a smart and gracious choice. Not only does it eliminate the stress of post-flight logistics, but it also delivers genuine hospitality and comfort right when you need it most.

I had been looking forward to staying here, thinking it was a big upgrade from my usual City Lodge stay. The person who checked me in was arrogant, and was only interested in "upselling"- valet parking, breakfast,and pushed a dinner reservation-saying to book immediately or the restaurant would be full ( it was half empty when I walked by that evening at 8.) The room is dated and not special in any way. I'll be giving friendly City Lodge my business again next time.

Our stay surpassed all previous stays here. We were extremely lucky to be there on the music and cocktails night, held monthly. A marvellous woman played saxophone, accompanying some background music. Cocktails and beautiful finger foods were free! Secondly, staff were very helpful when my husband lost his passport! Fortunately it was quickly found. Food was excellent, beds comfy, and the ultimate in convenience when flying, being across the road from the airport. Hope you get lucky one day, and experience the music, cocktails and snacks.

We stayed at the Intercontinental for one night before catching our next flight. It's a nice hotel and extremely convenient. It's about a 5 minute walk from the arrivals terminal. Check in was very busy, but the service in general was great. We ordered room service and got our food quickly. The turn down service was nice. We were also able to get a late check out. For breakfast, there is a buffet and a la carte menu with lots of food choices. I used the pool and gym. Both were nice. We had a short, but great and comfortable stay.

Breakfast was delicious. Lillian was our server and she was excellent—very attentive, professional and friendly. We had a delicious dinner. Prince was our server. He was the BEST!!! So helpful and professional as well as friendly.

The location of this hotel cannot be beaten for transfers that require an overnight stay, being right by the airport entrance, and is popular for people catching a small plane to safari lodges. Other guests commented that they “always stay” there when visiting Joburg, using it as a base to come back to after a day of tours and exploring. Rooms are very comfortable and the service excellent, as you would expect from the InterContinental brand.
