Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club

We did a staycation for the holidays! Stunning resort! Beautiful and everyone was very kind! I will definitely be back! Jannah, the front desk manager was very kind!

Four of us had high expectations when we booked New Year's Eve at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club. What a disappointment. The lights were way too bright, and the staff refused to lower the lights even after several people complained. No mood lighting at all, and the DJ music was pretty terrible. Most of the music was dated, loud, and obnoxious. Every song sounded like the last song. There was no place to sit, so I ended up standing most of the night. Had a glass of champagne when I arrived, but then couldn't get another one until midnight even though the four of us spent a fortune on the "party". Needless to say, it was dull, boring, and lacked any semblance of a party, much less a New Year's Eve party. I will never go there again for anything. If they can't even put on a decent party for people paying a lot of money to be there, then I wouldn't trust them to make my stay a nice one. Whoever was in charge of New Year's Eve dropped the ball big time. I'm generally pretty easy to please, but their "party" was a disaster.

I was really looking forward to spending NYE at the Waldorf, for the ball drop. I went with my fiance and friends. We were quite disappointed because it looked more like a high school party, with the bright lights!!! We asked if some lights could be dimmed and the response was that “engineers” were working on it, which was really hard to believe. We will not returning next year.

We stayed at The Waldorf for Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holiday. The staff was super attentive & friendly. We had a fist floor room in the south wing with a fire pit. It rained while we were there & our patio flooded a little bit (no fault of the hotel’s), but my husband still enjoyed the fire pit. They even gave us a s’mores kit for our room with a blanket & a bottle of red wine. It was a nice touch. We had Christmas brunch at Aveo. It was pricey ($220 per person) but so well worth it. Seafood tower, omelet station, carving station, charcuterie table, dessert bar. It was incredible. My husband golfed on Christmas. I rode along. Beautiful course in a beautiful neighborhood. Two holes are on the beach & it was gorgeous. We’d love to come back when it’s not raining & bring our family. Definitely a 5-star experience.

Our family of 9 went to the hotels Aveo Restaurant for their big Christmas Day buffet. Usually we eat at home on Christmas, but everyone was too tired so we decided to treat ourselves, which turned out to be one of the smarter things we’ve done lately. The Christmas Day buffet is a little on the expensive side, but the experience was fantastic . The food was terrific. More so, from Marvin at Aveo and Danielle (who was responsible for the opening of this beautiful restaurant several years ago ) and her membership team, all of whom who were great in setting up our reservation including a great table for 9 people, to Keana (hotel food and beverage director), to Edgar (Aveo GM), to Jose ((hotel senior server and bartender) , and to Bella (senior food runner), the service was extraordinary during our meal. These people aren’t rookies, and they made sure every last detail during our entire meal was taken care of. They are experienced, caring professionals who take a great deal of pride in their work, and whose resumes are off the charts. All in all, if you want a truly 5-star+ level of service which is hard to get now-a-days, along with great food and a beautifully designed ocean view setting , I would strongly recommend this restaurant. These people made our Christmas Day, and I just wanted to thank them.

My family spent the pre-holiday period at this property while celebrating my daughter’s birthday, and our experience was exceptional. The front office team was warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make my daughter feel truly special. A heartfelt thank you to Ha, Lori, and Janibeth for their outstanding hospitality and for going the extra mile to ensure our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach was memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will certainly be returning next year. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing them again. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful stay. See you all soon!

My wife and I just took another weekend trip to the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, and once again it was an amazing experience. We’re locals and love coming here because the service is always exceptional… that’s what keeps us coming back. I really want to shout out a few people who made our stay even better. Mario Dominguez, one of the managers, has been incredible since the very first day we met him. He’s always been super helpful and goes out of his way to make sure we’re taken care of. Justin from bell services has helped us the last two times we’ve stayed and is extremely personable. He even remembered us from our previous visit. Last time my wife was pregnant, and this time we came back with our six-month-old. That personal touch meant a lot to us. Also, Eric at the front desk was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, the resort is super family-friendly, very accommodating, the service is top-notch, and the food is great. Big shoutout to Bourbon Steak and the Beach Club as well. We’ll definitely continue coming back.

Everything about this resort is wonderful! The view is spectacular, the rooms are well maintained and immaculate, and the service is top notch. I was there for a conference that included several meals and cocktail parties. At other venues for this particular conference, food and drinks were average, but at the Monarch Beach resort, everything was amazing! The food was creative and delicious, and the servers were friendly and efficient. After a day at the conference, I came back to a sparkling clean and organized room. The housekeeper even wrapped the cord to my hair dryer with a Monarch Beach Velcro wrap! And when I returned to the resort after dinner, my bed had been turned down and chocolates were on the bedside table. This is one of the most elegant and beautiful places to stay. When visiting Dana Point, treat yourself to a first class booking at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort for a perfect and memorable experience!

I stayed at this hotel over the long weekend, and while it was quite busy, the experience was overall very positive. Thanks in large part to Allison Rouse, the Front Office Manager. There were a few moments where the service felt a bit inconsistent, likely due to the high volume of guests, but Allison stepped in personally to resolve everything smoothly and professionally. She was incredibly thoughtful, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Her support truly made a difference in our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the facilities were well-maintained, and the pool was perfect for relaxing and playing with the kids. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, and despite the busy weekend, the atmosphere remained pleasant. Thanks to Allison’s outstanding service, I would absolutely consider staying here again. Highly recommend!
