DoubleTree by Hilton Montgomery Downtown

Ready for a new makeover, maybe a tear down. This place has been neglected for years, and it shows. Electrical outlets aren't secured to the walls, outlets that don't work. Shower doors that won't close because the frames are broken. Doors that slam and let the slightest noise into the room. Appliances out on the floor and not in the cabinets built for them (see outlets). Floors stink like dirty feet. Filters not changed out regularly. Mattress was probably in good shape when it was purchased in the twentieth century. Furniture is very old and worn. Not enough trash cans. Dark. Poor lighting (none over the desk), and window curtains broken. Bedroom is directly inside the door, and living room behind the back wall (backwards). TVs are first generation flatscreen. Few channels tune. No Bluetooth connection. 30 year old phones work. Sometimes. Stairwell is immaculate. Maybe because it's never used. Trash bagged and piled five feet high in the hallways. Security is a joke. Break ins, unrestricted access to floors at all hours. Random people wandering the hallways. One knocked on my door and said “just checking”, despite the do-not-disturb sign (he didn’t work there). Found my door bolted open one hour after I checked in at 9 pm. No one inside Staff must not have much to do. Always standing at the reception counter and visiting. Much better choices than this hotel.

Front desk persons very unfriendly

At check-in the woman was efficient but did not greet me. Another woman came out of an area behind the desk with the Doubletree cookie. I asked for a second cookie for my husband and it took her almost a minute to respond. The lobby was extremely dark. The decor was out-dated. The ceiling was industrial, unfinished, open beam that increased the dated atmosphere. The upper walkway felt unsafe. We actually checked and an adult wouldn’t be able to fall through the gaps. A infant or toddler might fall. The wall on the back of the elevator shaft had broken plaster and peeling wallpaper. I entered the room alone to submit photos to TraffickCam. I was concentrating on getting a photo of the chair in the far corner and fell flat on my face due to the protruding bed frame. The black frame protruded significantly beyond the mattress, leaving minimal walking space, and was not visible with the entry light. My husband tripped over the bed frame in the middle of the night. Luckily neither of us fell into the dresser. Draperies were SHREDDED! Bathroom mirror frame showed signs of melting from the light fixture. On this trip we stayed in 4 Hamptons and 2 Best Westerns, one built in the 1950s. They were each nicer than this Doubletree.

I like that the location was centered in the heart of downtown Montgomery.

Upon checking in, I was told that they were overbooked and that they could not honor the king room that I booked weeks ago. We had to settle for two queen beds, which appeared to be smaller than a queen. The outlets on the nightstand did not work there was hair in the shower, so it was not clean. Well the bathroom door would not close all the way.

This hotel is a trash pit, a friend and I came to stay for a funeral. The front desk staff was unwelcoming and rude and the rooms were disgusting I would have rather canceled my stay and went to another property however they weren’t trying to issue refunds and their horrible attitudes made it uncomfortable to keep asking for better accommodation. The first room we were given had a pungent smell and mold in the picture, the second room had a broken drain and ac, and mold in the bathroom. my friend had blood on her sheets and an ant invasion the following night. This property needs to be closed and redone it’s no reason for people to pay almost $500 of their hard earned money to be uncomfortable. They also sprung on a $16 a night parking fee that wasn’t included in Expedia. I am HIGHLY unsatisfied while i was supposed to be grieving the loss of my mother i also had to be uncomfortable.
