Marriott Milwaukee West

We stayed here in July during the week the Republican National Convention was in town, so the hotel was probably busier than usual. The room was pretty spacious for myself and 2 children, but we had an issue with the cleaning staff, the vending machine and the restaurant. The cleaning staff - on two occasions - skipped our room, even though we were literally there waiting for them. When we went next door to ask them to come back, they said NO and when we asked if we could just have some extra towels, the ALSO DIDN’T GIVE THEM TO US. It was super annoying. The vending machine on the floor didn’t work and when we went down to complain, the reception staff said they knew, but that it was owned by a different company. (Even a sign would have helped us not spend money in it!) There was also a nationwide IT fail in the middle of it - but the restaurant is somehow not connected to the main hotel billing system, so they wanted a cash payment (not mentioned at the beginning of the meal), so that was frustrating. The hotel itself is a decent place, with ample parking, but I think they were at capacity with perhaps not enough staff to handle things.

Friendly staff, excellent location

The hotel room was great, but there were teenagers, running up and down the hallway, playing incredibly loud music, and screaming, and hollering. It was a long night.

We attended a family wedding at this hotel and were disappointed with our stay. As a Lifetime Titanium Elite Bonvoy member i was expecting an average room at a Marriott and got one below average( lowest level over the hotel A/C units, looking at a dirt wall. When I asked for a better, higher floor room at check in, she gave me a worse room (smaller and same floor), even though their website showed i could purchase a much better room. Handicap door buttons did not work on the main entrance doors. Staff did not seem to care when i pointed it out (did not get fixed during our stay). Other entrance doors were very difficult to open. Thermostat was difficult to control the room temperature. Room was very dark with CFL bulbs in the few lamps. Breakfast buffet had an omelet station but no one to work it. Food was cold from sitting in the pans. Breakfast personnel however was curious and professional. This was an expensive hotel for our 2 nights. Wedding food in the banquet center was the talk of the night... very bad! It was supposed to be chicken but no one was sure. Pork was just as bad. I completed the survey with my comments and got the traditional form letter back from the assistant manager. He included the basic apology and could understand my frustrations. Then he hoped the rest of my travels (outside this hotel) were enjoyable. No surprise from this place. Bottom line, there are lots much better hotels to stay at in this area, and I definitely would not pick this place for a wedding.

I enjoyed coffee in the room in the morning. The area around the property was nice for walking. I very much enjoyed my stay.

Very nice hotel for the money

I will start with the positives: The beds were REALLY comfy and soft and the sheets were very nice as well. There was a large 55" tv (guessing about size) with access to Apps like You Tube and Prime. Lastly, the room was very clean. Negatives: old and ready for renovation. Look at the pictures to see specific problems. Basically, the room was VERY small (especially for a Marriott) with two double beds rather than two queen beds. We had four people in the room and the beds were SO small that someone actually fell out of the bed! I think they had to use double beds due to the small room size. The refrigerator had not been cleaned and we also could not get our room refreshed the second day until we finally begged them to do it. There was mildew in the bathroom grout which could be fixed with a little bleach. The water pressure was very nice and the shower was hot. The toilet was so old it took nearly three minutes to complete a flush cycle. The room did have floor to ceiling windows with was nice but not much in the way of a view. The breakfast buffet was about $16 which I thought was very good. The food was fresh and tasty. The Front Desk staff were very respectful and I appreciated the "it would be my pleasure" attitude. If you have four people that you would like to occupy one room, this is NOT the hotel for you. I did see a king room which I thought was nice.

The service is good, clean and safe, but the facilities are a bit old and backward. The mattress is too old and should be replaced. It is uncomfortable. Overall, it is good. I will come back.

Very pleasant one night stay during a family wedding. Hotel was clean, modern, and up-to-date. Appreciated the free early check-in. Prompt, friendly service at the Starbucks bar, gym was pretty good, and room was clean, comfortable, and no-nonsense.
