Carlton George Hotel

The location is brilliant. The staff we dealt with were chirpy and helpful. And that bed….. oh my god the bed, never slept in anything so comfortable in my whole life, I slept in and missed the check out time it was so comfortable. Being in the city centre you’d think it would be noisy but no, pure silence. Shower was cracking. All in all 10/10.

Breakfast should be free for the price but can’t fault the stay so it’s still 10/10.

Great location (despite all the construction in Glasgow). Staff were outstanding - customer service, restaurant recommendations, train insight.

Only stayed one night - would have enjoyed another !

The hotel is in an excellent city centre location. Near shop and restaurants and the train station is only a 10 minute walk away. The bed was super comfortable and bigger than the average hotel bed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The lighting in the room was not too bright and although there were tea and coffee making facilities, the cups were not big enough for a cup of tea, just small coffee cups, a bit like egg cups! The cups didn’t have handles either so you couldn’t pick them up without burning your fingers.

Zimmer war groß, sauber, stets gut gereinigt.

Leider war eine Lüftung ausserhalb des Zimmers direkt neben dem Fenster, welche Tag und Nacht Geräusche verursachte...

Hotel was very well-located in downtown Glasgow with modern, beautifully designed rooms. Rooms were spacious. The complementary mini bar was a nice touch.

Water took several minutes to warm up. Unfortunately the rain shower feature caused the bathroom to flood completely. We planned to drop off our bags at the hotel before dropping off our rental car, but unfortunately the area in front of the hotel was restricted to taxis only, so we incurred an expensive fine by driving our rental car into a restricted area.

The hotel is in the centre of the shopping area with many restaurants, bars and other facilities close by. The room was large and well set out. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding and towels were good quality and very clean. Everything was provided in the room as anticipated; plenty of coffee and water. The hair dryer was the best I have ever had in a hotel of this type - an ioniser hair dryer with plenty of cable to reach a socket and a mirror! Hurray.

The receptionist, when we arrived, didn't explain the breakfast times or other amenities available including the small outside area on the top floor. However we gleaned this information from listening to another couple checking in with a different receptionist. The only criticism we had was a heavy fire door in the corridor next to our room which banged every time someone used it and banged so loudly that the bed shook! We did mention this to the receptionist who told us that they were already looking into the problem. Quite a surprise when you are sleeping!

Great location Stayed here many times over the years, brilliant location next to George Square, plus the legendary mini bar.. The rooms were a bit dated and a bit heavy on the tartan decor … but now.. was blown away by the makeover. They have done a superb job of updating the rooms and the bathrooms.. very impressed.
