Holiday Inn Express - Charleston/Kanawha City by IHG

I was a single but our group was there to attend a funeral. The staff was very accommodating for family to come back and socialize. Everyone was friendly even the maids. Breakfast was hot and had plenty.

We booked this hotel because it was one of the few in the area that had a room that would accommodate 6 people (my wife and I and 4 small kids). The room felt very unfinished and neglected. There was a picture missing from the wall, a hole in the door, and cobwebs on the lamp. It did not feel like we were in a hotel but like we were in a room that was built inside a warehouse. Even the lights flickered after they had been on for around 30 seconds. Even though I booked ahead on Expedia the check-in process was extremely slow and it was not a busy time (we arrived around 12:30am). The breakfast was decent and that area was clean and modern.

room looked like it hadn’t been finished, it was a larger room with couch but no end tables or ottoman. had small refrigerator with freezer but someone left ice bags in it, couldn’t get coffee maker to work. floors needed cleaned better. laundry room had door left open with all the towels thrown about, breakfast room too small not much to offer. parking lot needs work and big semis parked along side. this whole area looked like a truck stop area. all in all would not recommend and wouldn’t stay here again.

Close to attractions

Grass wasn’t moved hotel needed some Leadership and management. Mini pancake maker was broke was to be fixed next morning nope . Pool was 300 degrees back utility door with electric cords door open . Breakfast was cut off 1/2 hour too early.

Short staffed, dirty rooms

The only negative i have is the chemical smell from the pool. Other than that it was great

The front desk staff was polite and efficient.

There were live cockroaches in the room climbing on the walls and we weren't sure if it had been cleaned. There was a receipt and a left over bag from door dash in the room. We also found dead flies in the window sills. The pool was dirty as well with sediment and powder on the bottom. We also found the filter covers off of large holes in the bottom. I was worried for safety with my kids. We left promptly and are still seeking resolution and a refund.

Clean, quiet, good breakfast.

Bathroom was too small. Sink was outside bathroom. The water in sink did not get cold or go down.

Dirty carpet in room . Had to clean hair out of sink. Bathroom very tight between toilet and door. Massive holes in driveway to hotel.
