The Royal Sonesta San Juan

Very nice hotel! The ocean view room was amazing! Very clean room, friendly staff, pool was clean and plenty of space, great beach access, 10/10!

My stay at the Royal Sonesta San Juan from March 16–20 was extremely disappointing, and the lack of follow-up since then has made the situation worse. During our stay, our room had a significant overhead water leak from the ceiling fixture. This required multiple maintenance calls overnight, disrupted our sleep, and made the room feel unsafe and unusable. We were not moved until late afternoon the following day, which meant we lost a meaningful portion of our trip dealing with the issue. Since then, I have made repeated attempts to resolve this directly with Royal Sonesta. Unfortunately, corporate has either ignored my follow-ups or provided only generic responses stating that they have contacted the hotel. That is not a resolution. I have specifically asked to speak with someone at corporate directly, but I have not received a substantive response, a clear point of contact, or a fair compensation offer. This experience has been extremely frustrating. Guests should not have to chase corporate repeatedly after a serious room issue, especially when the stay was materially disrupted. I am still requesting that Royal Sonesta corporate contact me directly and provide a meaningful resolution, including appropriate compensation for the affected portion of our stay. At this point, the lack of accountability and communication is as disappointing as the original issue itself.

The resort is beautiful and very clean. The pool, beach, and staff were very friendly.

One of if not the best hotel i’ve ever visited! The staff are very friendly and attentive, William at the door made us feel like we’re at home! Showed us lots of great restaurants in the area ! Check in was smooth our room was available before check in time, Dixy was very helpful and pointed us towards great food spots and helped solve any minor inconvenience! The room was very clean, the view and layout were beautiful and the beds were very comfortable! The continental breakfast was amazing, very tasty! Stephanie and Victor were very kind and attentive as well in the restaurant. The pool and beach were such a short walk from the hotel we almost never left the property during our stay. 10/10 Would definitely recommend and for sure coming back soon!

The hotel is a beautiful, renovated, well-maintained property. It has all of the features of an all-inclusive resort in the other Caribbean islands. Since I usually go all-inclusive on other island trips, I was looking for something similar there in Puerto Rico. Royal Sonesta did deliver that feel, for a price.

The food and drinks are a bit overpriced and underwhelming. Especially given it is fully paid, I expected to be a bit more impressed than I was. Don’t get me wrong, the food and drink were not at all offensive, just overpriced for the quality. As an aside, and not at all the property’s fault — the location of the beach is extremely windy at times and the sand kicks up and blows around. If you’re traveling during windy times beware you will be battling the sand for certain periods.
