"Good location."

The common room/library in the lobby. So quiet and comfortable with a cappuccino machine and cold water.

The room was VERY small.

"Comfortable hotel in Old Quebec"

8.0

Lovely hotel in Old Quebec, ideally placed for the chateau and river. Comfortable, clean quiet room with coffee machine, kettle and selection of coffees and teas. Lovely lounge area with snacks and more coffee & tea, but also full of comfortable chairs, stocked bookshelves and a fire to relax in front of. This room also included a desk for working, but the desk space in the room was ample. Breakfast basket available on request.

Hot on-site breakfast would have been good.

"The most charm QC has to offer!"

10.0

Want to really experience small, personalized, boutique hospitality while in QC?? By all means, stay at the HVQ. It is right in the heart of upper Old Town, convenient by foot to everything and so incredibly clean and comfortable! To start - beds and pillows really matter. To me, they can make or break the stay. These were both heavenly - zero back discomfort here. The bathrooms are super clean and well-appointed. We truly appreciated the morning breakfast delivery in charming picnic baskets hanging from the door each morning! And no paper products - all ceramic dishes, mugs and stainless flatware provided with cloth napkins. Next door is a very gourmet but reasonably priced restaurant/bar, Hortus, where we ate the first night upon arrival. Our tours, dining and shopping were all 5 to 15 minute walks, even to the famed Frontenac. Don’t waste your $ there for accommodations - it’s three times the price, and the rooms are half the size. Instead, we opted to take the beautiful tour and enjoyed lunch there, but felt very happy returning to our Hotel Du Vieux QC for relaxing/sleeping. The front desk staff is eternally pleasant, funny and helpful and will provide you with walking maps each day, showing you wherever your adventures take you. There is a coffee lounge and work stations available, and you can get 6 different types of coffees and grab fresh fruit and lemon infused water. We will absolutely be coming back here - no need to look anywhere else!!

"PARFAIT/PERFECT!"

10.0

Stayed here recently for three nights. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this hotel! Wish we could give a six stars to distinguish it from all the others. We stayed in Room 105, in the back of the hotel. QUIET: Room overlooked an alley but we never heard a sound from either the street or another guest. The room seemed very well-insulated from sound. GREAT SPACE: The room was spacious, well laid out, with King bed, sitting area, huge wall mounted television, spacious bathroom, windows that actually opened and closed! ELECTRIC PLUGS: all the details were incredibly well thought out. I use a CPAP machine and we often have to get down on hands & knees, behind furniture (yuck! gross things!) and sometimes move furniture to plug it in. Not at this hotel! Each side of the bed had a wallplate to accommodate multiple plugs - almost like the owner realized that people travel with electronics in this century! CONVENIENT LIGHTING: lighting was designed very thoughtfully - each side of the bed had an easy on/off reading light and a switch that turned ALL the lights off. Almost like the owner realized that after weary travelers get into bed, they might want to read and doze off without getting up to turn off all the other lights. Amazing! FRIENDLY STAFF: The front desk staff (there was always someone there) was friendly and engaging. Almost like the owner cares that travelers get information and are greeted warmly. ART WORK: beautiful. Not the usual corporate stuff. Really nice artwork throughout. FOOD: We did not opt for the breakfast basket at the door, so cannot comment on the food. STAY AGAIN? Would happily return!
