Maine Evergreen Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Staff were great, the hotel is beautiful with all of the art around. Breakfast was good even though I am gluten intolerant and only had the coffee. Room was clean.

My room was on the second floor with an outdoor hallway to get to your room. When it's this cold in Maine during the winter- not a great hotel for the winter. I was told later you can pay $20 more to stay on the 3rd floor with an enclosed hallway. Burr! Food at the hotel at night is more like heavy appetizers- but I understand not enough people to have a full dinner service. Pillows were kind of lumpy and old.

Very clean, very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, the Hearthside bar is awesome too!!! Great atmosphere all around, spacious and comfortable…almost like home!

The good is it's clean, newly renovated, lobby is very nice. The bad is they advertise their room as 2 queens, but they are double beds. Was not very conducive to a good night's sleep with 2 in the bed. The Tv is extremely small (bring magnifying glasses). You do have to walk outside to get to your room, not sure if that makes it a motel, not a hotel?? Correct sized beds and a reasonably sized TV would make it a 4 star.

Wish I had known the room was more like a motel than a hotel as we had to go outside to get to the lobby and restaurant. Next time I will ask for 3rd floor room!

The hotel was really nice, it very much exceeded my expectations when walking in, it had a really nice feel to it, the rooms were a good size and clean. The restaurant was nice and the lady working was so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us and everyone else in the restaurant/bar area despite being the only member of staff there. It had a really cosy feel to it with a fire and board games to play and good cocktails. The real gem of the whole hotel was Thomas on the front desk, honestly the warmest most friendly greeting of any hotel I have ever stayed in he was just so lovely and greeted everyone in such a friendly way, he took his time to explain everything have a conversation with us and talk us through a map of the local area which was really nice. We really loved this hotel and would have no hesitation recommending it and it was good value!

That we were just passing through and couldn’t stay longer!
