Very helpful and polite staff, clean and comfortable bed,

The air conditioning was a little bit confusing to work out,( more our age than the hotels fault)but the lovely members of staff put a fan in our room,

I would avoid this hotel. I treated myself to a night away in my favourite city before a work event. Straight away, I had problems as it was very hot in my room. The air conditioning had to be reset by reception It worked till the automatic reset of which I was unaware occurred at midnight. I awoke over heated and had to ring down to get it reset. I did not sleep well at all after that and was tired for my work event I raised the issue immediately on check out. No one contacted me and I had to contact them. They are doubling down and saying they will offer no recompense bar a good rate on my next stay when I have no intention of returning The windows do not open. There are no air conditioning instructions and their customer service when a problem is raised is poor The hotel is also quite tired grubby and dirty- the lift- the corridors- the rooms. Save your money and stay somewhere nicer in York- there are far nicer places
