Hampton Inn Mitchell

Large parking, clean rooms and an abundant breakfast. If this is what you would expect from an Hampton inn Hotel, then here you are definitely in the right place. Everything was good, well maintained and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

I booked our one night stay based on TripAdvisor reviews. The hotel is undergoing renovations and it’s understandable that some areas are going to be in an upheaval and that isn’t my reason for the two star rating. I gave it a two star rating because our room simply felt dirty. The laminate flooring just inside of our room door was sticky and the room had a musty smell which made me wonder just how dirty the carpet really was. The bathroom was clean, however the water pressure in the shower was extremely weak. Bottom line, for the price of our stay and the level of service that I’ve come to expect when booking a Hilton property, this Hampton Inn was not up to par and I wished I had chosen a different hotel.

This hotel is a little older, but still decent accommodations. They are in the process of renovating, but that did not effect our stay in any way. Room was clean, front desk staff at check in and checkout were nice and friendly and location was good. Only complaints would be minor...there was a hair in the shower that was missed and the noise from the highway and the hallway and above us made it hard to get a good night sleep.

We stopped here for an overnight stay on our way to Rapids City. I picked this hotel based on the glowing reviews. I wish I would have stayed somewhere else. The hotel was fairly clean except for the nail clippings my wife found on the floor side of the bed. In my opinion the two most important things in a hotel stay are the bed and the shower. I would give this location zero stars on both. The bed was very soft and uncomfortable. So much as I laid there not falling asleep, I contemplated checking out and just going on with my driving. Instead i just half slept, tossed and turned, and woke to look at the clock every hour. The shower had so low water pressure/flow, I had a hard time feeling clean afterwards. This review makes me sound like a Karen, but if you look at my other reviews, I rarely leave a negative one unless I've really had a terrible time, well this is one of those times. I did not bring any of this up to staff on site because I'm an introvert by nature and that is why I like digital check in/out and digital keys. Thanks for reading, and look for somewhere else to stay.

We knew it was currently #1 in Mitchell ranking and not sure why, honestly. It had no huge problems but also nothing stood out. Breakfast was good, but have come to expect that from Hampton. The location is not great, and if you don't ask for a room on the south/parking lot side, you will be facing north/freeway side. I suggest to not face the freeway if noise will bother you. This interstate is pretty quiet at night, but not deserted. Nearby Hampton is a Culvers for a hamburger dinner, that was good. Hampton pool and spa were ok, functional, perhaps more than you expect for a road trip stop. Rooms were tired and in need of renovation. A story board in the lobby showed new choices for renovations (colors, types of carpet, and so on) but it wasn't clear if that was upcoming (and when?) or recently done. Hopefully it was not already done, because if it was, it needs to be done again. Staff were very nice and personable. Parking ample. Location for other services was very good. The only reason I can't rate it higher is the tiredness of the rooms. Next time in Mitchell I would try a different place (but NOT Kelly Inn across the street that appeared deserted, by the way) to see if this is truly the best Mitchell has to offer.

We stopped at this hotel on our drive across South Dakota as we have done in the past. The front desk was friendly and efficient at check in. As we are Diamond members, Sara, had a free upgraded room ready for us. Management has an excellent team in place from people at the front desk, to housekeeping, to the individuals putting on the breakfast. We always tip for good service so my recommendation is don't forget to tip housekeeping and the people working the breakfast area. They work hard with a smile on their face. Needless to say this is our go to stop on our way across South Dakota. Top Shelf.

This was our first night of lodging while exploring South Dakota, and we were pleased with the experience. After viewing the Corn Palace; we stopped in and had a welcoming and efficient check-in. The facility is clean and well-maintained; with our room being comfortable and providing a comfortable retreat, after a long day of travel. The complimentary breakfast was very good; with a decent variety of items from which to choose, helping to start one's next day on the road. If we find ourselves back in the area, this is definitely a solid option for a return visit.

This hotel has the friendliest and most helpful staff we’ve encountered in a long time. Highly recommend. Clean and well appointed hotel, too. If you drive around the parking lot you can win the license plate game.

The people were very nice. But, they were remodeling and it just felt dirty. Breakfast was not very good and a little disappointing. We stayed there three years ago and enjoyed our stay, but this time we were not that impressed. We will probably not be back again.

This was an excellent stop right off of I-90 for the first night on our trip out West. The Digital Key worked flawlessly, which was great as we arrived late at night after a long day of driving. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was well done with attentive service. I appreciated the larger-than-normal mini-fridge in room as well.
