Anchorage Downtown Hotel

Very small room, one window opened, small ceiling fan, too hot to sleep. Fortunately I had extra fan in car. No bolt or chain on door. Sliding shower door broken.

Unfortunately we were not very happy with our stay. The bedding appeared not to have been changed since the previous guest as the sheets were creased and stained. They did change them when we asked but again creased sheets. The towels were thread bare and insufficient in number. The curtains unfortunately were too thin to keep out the light of the midnight sun, so it was hard to sleep. The room wasn't very clean , a lot of dust. Also we had agreed by email that the shuttle service, which had been great picking us up from the airport, would drop us off at the train station. When it came to it, we were told they didn't have insurance to take us to the station. All in all we weren't very impressed. On the plus side the complementary breakfast was nice and the staff polite.

The staff at this hotel is exceptional, very accommodating and friendly. Our flight left at 6am so we left the hotel at 3:30 am and the night clerk drove us. The day of arrival we arrived two hours before check-in and the clerk was kind and allowed us to check in anyways. The only negatives with the room are really beyond the hotel staff's ability: 1) This is a very old hotel - it's a "split level" with no way to tote luggage up and down steps other than carrying 2) Same as above - old hotel and there is NO air conditioning. The day we were there it was 80 outside but our room was west facing, so we caught all of the evening sun in our window and considering the sun was up until 3am it never really cooled off. 3) The room we were in was just below street level but our windows were at the parking level, adjacent to the hotel parking lot and a very busy street - a lot of street noise!

Our one night stay gave us all we needed with friendly helpful staff and a neat, clean room.

staff was very helpful. The only annoying thing was that the bathroom fan made too much noise when the light was turned on. Something that could easily be fixed.

This hotel is a 3-story walk up, no elevators. I was recuperating from a knee injury, but our room was on 3rd floor. Plus we are senior citizens...with heavy suitcases. I would recommend this hotel to younger people, travelling light. There is a nice bike/walking path along the shore line. Prices are high in Anchorage, so this hotel is quite affordable for being so close (20 min walk) to downtown. We did not want to rent a car for just a 2 night stay after our cruise, so we chose this hotel. Also, free continental breakfast since there is no place except downtown to eat. A 3-man counter to eat at, or take to your room (3rd floor) which has no chairs.

Terrible hotel overall. Except staff everything was terrible n well below standard. I have photoes to prove it. It's an old house turned into a hotel. No regard for cleanliness or comfort. Will never recommend to anyone.

This was a nice motel staff was friendly and helpful. This is not a four star motel but room was nice. This is a older building so some things show there age. Room was clean. This motel was adequate for our one night stay before our flight home.

The value for the price was excellent. Walking distance to everything in Downtown Anchorage. Exceptionally quiet location made sleeping very nice! I was initially wary of staying in this hotel but quickly changed my mind. The fixtures are a little old and the building looks a little shabby on initial impression, however the location and comfort were perfect! I loved the huge comfy bed. A few other hotels in the area seem to offer similar accommodations but are located very close to busy intersections which make traffic noise an issue. This is not that case for Anchorage Downtown Hotel. Other bonus - the nearby lot is a hotspot for upscale food trucks, making a very convenient and inexpensive lunch or early dinner (handy if you need to catch an AM train the next day).
