History, history, history! The location is perfect and sits directly on the river in Marietta. The bar is great, the food is great and staff was kind and inviting.

The Lafayette is a very cool hotel. The girl Victoria that we spoke with at check-in was amazing. And the bright young lady that runs the Starbucks in the hotel was incredibly nice. We did have to use the service elevator due to their main elevator being down on our stay, but again, Victoria was amazing and a great host. However, after She got off of her shift, we never saw another person at the front desk. We tried to call down there and nobody would answer. We even tried to order from the restaurant one night and couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone. all of the carpets in the hotel and especially around the bathroom door in our room or trip hazards. The carpets are absolutely filthy and need to be cleaned and rest stretched. When you’re walking down the hallways, you can see where “something” has chewed holes in the drop in ceilings in the corners. And it’s just those minor attention to detail that can really make people not want to stay there. The curtain dressings are super cute in the rooms, but they do not block out any light whatsoever. So it’s very hard to get a peaceful sleep. Even with the hotel being basically empty, they put people in the room right next-door to us. Which I thought was pretty crappy because who wants to stay in a hotel and listen to somebody else all night. As I said, the hotel is a beautiful place and they have done a great job preserving the history, but they could do a better job with customer service and providing a safer environment.

We usually love staying there, but this time our room wasn’t ready and we had an event to get to…the elevator was broken and we had to have someone take us up and down on the service elevator. No free breakfast on the weekends…really? The buffet was cold and potatoes were hard…all I wanted was some toast and coffee…my pillow was hard as a rock..should be able to order off menu…which is usually very good..may not stay there again..

"Nice older hotel, very reasonable "

8.0

The Lafayette is a very nice older hotel. It's in great condition, and the room's are quite comfortable. Bathroom was a bit narrow, but nice high ceilings. Great old world decor that we really enjoyed. Breakfast at the Gunroom was also good and quite reasonable. Only complaint is that our room faced Front Street; we stayed on a Friday night, and there was a bar across the street that was quite noisy well into the night. If we stay again, will ask for a room facing the river.

Enjoyed my stay. The only thing I would recommend is maybe a microwave and mini fridge in at least the suites. That made things a little inconvenient with the restaurant being pretty good.

"Wonderful hotel in a lovely and interesting city"

Lovely restored historic hotel overlooking the Ohio River, the Lafayette was a great place to stay while exploring historic Marietta. The staff was very responsive and welcoming, the bar made a perfect martini, and the gunroom served a delicious breakfast.

It’s just getting to be too old. The floor was slanting so much in our bathroom it gave me a headache! Furniture is so old I used a sheet to cover the couch before we sat down. We use it for location only.
