This was probably our best experience in a hotel ever. The Hotel Albatroz is located directly on the beach on the coast of Portugal just north of Lisbon. We stayed in the old house section. The old world charm, the service, the food, the pool, with the view over the rocks and the beach, everything was divine. Every member of the staff was kind, helpful, and professional. Our room had a little stone balcony with chairs where we could sit every day and look out over the ocean, while having a glass of Port provided in our room for free. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed. Everything was considered. Every need was provided for—from the nice robes and slippers, beach bag and towels for swimming, evening turn down, to the 24 hour service. We were able to relax and enjoy the beauty of the town, walking out each day and evening on the lovely tiled streets to dine on delicious seafood. Also, we had dinner in their lovely restaurant. looking out on the ocean and I would say it was equal to a Michelin star restaurant in the presentation and service that we received. It is about a two minute walk to the train station so we were able to leave with our suit cases on our last day, and jump directly on a train to Lisbon. Which was only a few euros for a ticket. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if it is within your price range. It was a little more than we usually budget for a hotel, but it was our first vacation in a long time and let me tell you it was worth every penny.
