Review: Sonesta Anaheim Resort Area Our stay started off with a few disappointments right at check-in. We were informed that the pool was under repair, though we were offered access to a nearby property’s pool. That wasn’t a huge issue for us since swimming wasn’t part of our plans. What was a big issue: the on-site restaurant was closed, despite the hotel’s website stating it’s open seven days a week. After a long day of traveling, we specifically chose this hotel so we wouldn’t have to go back out for food. That was frustrating and felt misleading. We were also told housekeeping is only provided upon request. If you want trash pickup or fresh towels, you have to call the front desk—and for a full cleaning, you need to give 24 hours notice. This “post-COVID” policy is something I strongly dislike, and it absolutely impacts the level of service. Our original booking was for two double beds, but I asked if we could switch to a king. While they ultimately made the change without charging us, even mentioning a potential upcharge—given everything else that wasn’t available—felt like poor customer service. The room itself was somewhat updated, with a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig, which was nice. However, cleanliness was lacking. There was a noticeable stain on the ottoman, dust buildup throughout the room, and one pillowcase had what looked like a drool stain. The bed was also uncomfortable. Midway through our stay, we called for fresh towels and trash service. When we returned, there was simply a bag of towels left on the bed. The old towels hadn’t been removed, and nothing was restocked in the bathroom. It felt careless and incomplete. If I had to sum it up in one word, this hotel is fine—but only if you’re not too particular. Personally, I won’t be staying here again, and I will be letting my travel advisor know this isn’t a property I’d recommend booking in the future.

Liked that it was a little tucked away from all the other hotels so it was a little less hectic with kids

We decided to stay 1 more night in So Cal so we booked this hotel at the last minute because the hotel we were staying at was sold out so we could not extend. We booked the suite with the bunk beds but when we got here they said they no longer had that option. The elevator worked but inside was boarded up as if they were going through repairs. Once we got to our room, the front living room area looked like it was robbed. Meaning there was no sofa or coffee table just an empty room with a tv at the corner and the small dining table with 2 chairs by the door. We had to go downstairs to front desk and they soon brought us a brand new out of the plastic pull out sofa. We wanted to wash our clothes after our 4 day vacation before heading home but the laundry room was closed for renovation so they had us go around the corner to their sister hotel. We couldn’t get access to the laundry there but thankfully the front desk lady was super nice and helped us in/out after each cycle. She was the saving grace for the whole hotel experience. Overall the hotel felt like it was empty as if it was closed.
