La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Richmond South

The Location

There was a strong odor in the 3rd floor hallway and the room until we sprayed it with air freshener. The room didn't match the picture on the web page. We were expecting a Jacuzzi room The breakfast was terrible. They had old reheated boiled eggs on both mornings and they ran out of bacon the first day and sausages on the second day, the bananas were old and the muffins looked like something had eaten off a couple. . The bed was too uncomfortable, you could feel the spring. There was no washer and dryer as advertised in the room. The window curtains were torn.

Room was as expected, clean. Staff friendly, but after requesting a first floor room pre check in, I was given a second floor?!.! Desk agent switched it but my question is, why ask? If you're not going to give it? We had some issues with toilet filling/not working. Front desk came down and fixed, but it happened again in morning. Staff needs to check #121 toilet! Breakfast was as expected at LaQuinta. Coffee better than many. TV coverage decent. Very close to 95. Basically a good stay( just check on the toilet)

The smell of the hotel was horrible. A strong chemical smell in the room. The pillows were horrible. The hotel definitely needs some TLC. Staff not very friendly. They say no smoking but walking the halls all you smell is marijuana. Just horrible.

Second, and mostly, Heather at the front desk was astute and recognized we needed clarification on our reservation and contacted us accordingly. A high level of customer service not seen so much anymore and sets a standard. Note: Quinto Sol nearby is excellent authentic mexican food.

Beds could have been more comfortable

Good distance to the needed amenities such as food laundry and stores. Dog friendly. Very clean. Decent breakfast
