"Convenient to the airport"

8.0

Just minutes from the airport and close to the U.S. embassy, this hotel is close to many of the business offices you might be visiting. The room was a little worn, but clean and comfortable.

"Very good overall experience"

8.0

Credit card payment/clearance problems caused by bad service provider were only complaint i can think of after 6 nights. When denied credit I checked in own end and they dident see any contact from hotel. ATM automat at hotel solved problem for me. Very nice service, upgrade to super suite room for low extra amount, late checkout at 20:00 for very reasonable amout, nice pool. Ocean not possible to swim due to rocks.

"Where do they get the Stars?"

2.0

Stayed here for a conference. The hotel's A/C didn't work and the water went out twice. The internet was also out the entire time....both Wifi and cable. The desk was helpless, and they actually charged at the "Business Center" to print my boarding pass. They also tried to charge me for mini-bar items that were not used. Regardless of location, this place is too big for its staff to accommodate the size of the facility. It's also apparent that they make some profit off of big conferences, but the sheer size of the place makes it impossible for them to keep it up the rest of the time. Food at the restaurant was also very poor. Hotels.com should start to filter what hotels they offer for fear of hurting their own reputation. Stay at one of the smaller hotels that are in the area.

"A Tale of Two Hotels"

4.0

I rarely write a review and I want to say that for the area that I had to be in, it was probably the safest option. However, things happened during my week there that were unacceptable and were treated with no sympathy. Tale One (The Good): the hotel is placed right on the beach with direct access to the beach, with a huge swimming pool, jacuzzi, full service spa and 2 separate restaurants with good food. It is very pretty and looks elegant. Tale Two (The Bad): Due to the faulty card system, my door was left open SIX times! the first two times i thought i didn't shut the door properly and blamed myself. the third time i noticed that the lock was disengaging a second before the door shut and to fix the problem was awkward, but i did it. the next three times the door was left open was due to the maid service and mini-bar inspection. when i complained about, there was no apology. i was simply told someone would look into it. the other issue is the key card system to use the lift. it took a good 3-4 times to work each time, which became quite frustrating. i paid for a king bed and got two twins that were not only pushed together, but made so that you could only sleep in one twin and not utilise both. the internet was AWFUL! overall, very disappointing stay.

"Presidential suite"

8.0

We upgraded to presidentail suite and it was worth the price. The suite was like a football field with full living room, dining room, 1.5 bathrooms, newly furnished.. Perfect room. The standard rooms were horrible, dated and very worn.

"Attending a conference"

6.0

Very nice service from the staff, they were polite looking forward to meet our needs. The hotel is a little outdated from the standpoint of design, especially in the bathrooms, but great efforts are made to maintain cleanliness. The Meridien President is not part of the Starwood Hotel Group anymore (now named King Fahd Palace) so membership points are no more awarded nor are the advantages of being a member such as late check-out unless membership was gold level. The conference center is directly on site and so it was more convenient to stay at the Meridien President hotel than staying at a hotel elsewhere in Dakar because none are at a walking distance.
