Geiser Grand Hotel

We were driving through and wanted to look at the hotel and restaurant to determine whether we would want to stay or eat here on a future trip. Clearly we wouldn’t be seeing a room but you can tell a lot from just the public spaces. To our surprise they post a sign about 5 or 6 feet inside the entry that says only guests are allowed past that sign. I explained why we stopped by and asked if we could just take a quick look into the restaurant. We were told no and it was clear that answer was inflexible. We walked out and scratched this hotel off our future list.

I just want everyone to know how much we enjoyed our stay at he Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City, Oregon. The gentleman at the front desk, Leif was so helpful and Kind. Tyree (also at the front desk) was so sweet, the two of them pulled a blanket off the wall in the gift shop and sold it to me. Holly was delightful- such a sweet gal and lovely server- so friendly and funny and attentive. The guy in the bar was excellent! He remembered my name and brought me champagne to the table- I did not catch his name but he is a great guy, so friendly and knowledgeable. All the employees were so helpful- even the gentleman who cleaned our room was friendly and kind. We were so impressed by the service and how welcoming all the staff was and how everybody just jumped in to help wherever help was needed. We had the best time ever and we are definitely coming back. Thank you so much for everything. I love my new blanket and comfy robe!!

We booked a room early in the evening thinking it was for the next day. They called shortly after we booked asking when we would be arriving the same day as we booked the room. We realized we had booked our room a day early. We asked them to change our reservation to the next day as they were far from full either day. They said the person on duty couldn’t make the change and they would reach out to us the next day. We heard nothing the next day. We called and they said they didn’t know when we would hear back from their office. So we went in when we got into town mid-afternoon the next day, still having heard nothing. They told us they would call us when they decided if they could change our reservation to the current day. They then called us and said they could not make the change and were keeping our money for the room from the day before. Even though they could not have rented it as they were mostly empty. We had stayed there several times in the past, but will never stay there again. We consider their lack of consideration for a simple mistake greedy and unforgivable. In addition, while it is a cool old building with character, it is kind of dated and uncomfortable.

We loved this place. This historic hotel is so cool. The tour is a must-really interesting. Our room was wonderful, the food in the dining room and breakfast in the saloon were great. Parking couldn't have been easier, and the staff were fabulous. Only downside was early morning noise. Around 7am, it became somewhat noisy both in and outside the hotel. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel, and we will be back!

Didn't have breakfast, wish we would have it. The hotel is so grand we felt like royalty our room was beautiful. The bathroom was amazing. Do yourself a favor have a meal there.

We have never met a more rude hotel clerk in all our travels. We definitely don’t recommend this hotel. We drove 3 hours to turn around & drive back.
