I think it should also be noted that the “cottages” are actually shared apartments with a shared main entrance, as well as patrons above you. We also experienced no power for a few hours on Friday night. Our “Ocean view” cottage was also largely blocked by a hill. Lastly I was charged twice for my stay. They had also missed a day’s fee for “pet stay” on original bill. When they fixed my double charge they made sure to include that extra $35 they missed. I feel like they could’ve comped that as an apology for the double charge at least. Overall It was okay, but don’t think it was worth paying over $2,000. I kinda wish for my birthday celebration, for that price, I would’ve chose an actual beachside ocean view AirBnb with no upstairs or next door neighbors instead. Restaurant quality and service was also mid. Nice to try the food, but wouldn’t go back.

Great location next to beach. Booked an ocean view deluxe room and was pleasantly surprised, had a great view from the deck. Loved the tea kettle and the coffee that came in tea-like bags. The on-site restaurant was fun, be sure to try Ozzy’s bread!

Not enough closet space to hang clothes.

My second stay. Ocean front deluxe room provided a gorgeous view. All staff was friendly and professional. We had dinner twice at Salt Wood restaurant with my dog in a stroller at my table. They even have a menu for dogs! Our meals were wonderful. Breakfast delivered to the room in a basket was nice. Nightly bonfires are a lovely touch. A couple small issues in our room but my email was promptly responded to by management. It would be 5 stars if I hadn’t had a couple of irritations. But I’m returning in December!

We stayed at The Sanctuary Beach Resort and had a bit of a mixed experience. First, I want to give credit where it’s due—the staff at check-in were amazing. They made us feel genuinely welcomed, like reconnecting with someone who was truly happy to see you. Very attentive and a great first impression. The beach itself is beautiful, and being able to sit by the fire with drinks was easily the highlight of the stay. It’s a relaxing setting and exactly what we were hoping for in a coastal getaway. That said, the overall stay was just okay. The issues we experienced at Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette definitely affected the experience and left us feeling a bit uneasy. We were also told a manager would follow up with us, but here we are in April and we never received a call. That lack of follow-through says a lot. One tip if you’re considering staying here: avoid rooms with guests above you. You can clearly hear footsteps—and even some bed noise at night—which takes away from the peaceful atmosphere. If possible, I’d recommend booking a single-story room or something closer to the beach. Overall, the setting is great and the staff starts things off strong, but the experience didn’t fully live up to what we were hoping for, especially given the occasion.

Hey Monterey vacationers! I recently stayed at the Sanctuary Beach Resort and found the experience to be very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally friendly and provided a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were clean, the beach was private, and the restaurant offered a great menu with excellent service. I would recommend this resort highly.
