Prestonfield House

Our immediate family stayed in the hotel and family and friends joined us for a 50th Wedding Anniversary in the Garden Room. Exceptional service, food and profesionalism from all the staff in the hotel. Food outstanding. Many other 5 star hotels in Edinburgh put their own corporate interest before our requirements for this event. This hotel ticked them all and surpassed our expectations. We are not millionares or frequent 5 star plus hotel travellers but we were humbled by this whole experience.

The Prestonfield house hotel is a very special place.The staff couldn't be more professional and genuinely welcoming.The service was first class and then some. The food served to us in the rhubarb room was delicious. This was our first visit and I must say that we're very much looking forward to going back.I need a gluten free diet as I have coeliacs.The staff were knowledgeable and reassuring. They provided me with clearly witten details regarding each dish. We were also delighted to meet Colin the Peacock who was happily tottering about the grounds and the lovely highland cattle.We will highly recommend this magical and remarkably individual hotel to everyone.

Every detail about this hotel is beautifully considered and luxurious. Absolutely wonderful staff. The restaurant, Rhubarb, is superb. A perfect stay :))

Everything!! Prestonfield is MAGIC. The beauty of the property, the service, all of it is next level. I have stayed there twice and will only stay here in Edinburgh. There really are no words to explain how amazing this place is, you have to actually experience it.

Having to leave

Just wow. We were so impressed with Prestonfield House, the setting, the stunning interiors, the service and the whole package. We booked direct, so we had a bottle of complimentary champagne in the room, chocolates and the MOST delicious homemade biscuits. The tea and coffee selection was exceptional, with a wide range of pukka teas and the products in the bathroom were lovely - I'm a huge fan of Bamford! The decor of the room itself was opulent, comfortable and immaculate. We didn't dine in the house, but the menu looked excellent. The breakfast was the best scottish fry we had on our trip (we loved the addition of the fruit pudding) and service was swift, friendly and frankly encouraged us to eat far more than we needed! Service overall was very personal, everyone knew our name magically and we enjoyed all our interactions with the team. It was lovely to be able to walk up Arthur's Seat from the hotel, as we popped through the golf course via the public foot path. The hotel is 10 minutes from the city centre but feels a million miles away, with highland cows and honey which is produced from the bees on site.

Staying at the Allan Ramsey suite as a family of 4. We were on a longish tour of Scotland to enjoy the best of the country. Prestonfield House was recommended as one of the best places to stay in Edinburgh. And truly as a property it’s unmatched if one wants to experience a Scottish manor. Situated in the middle of a large property and adjacent to the golf course which bears its name, the hotel is one of a kind. Allan Ramsey suite with its Victorian style furnishing represents opulence of a bygone era. People who are used to modern hotels with minimalistic decor could find the suite a little claustrophobic. The property though is let down by its team particularly F&B team handling the in-house Rhubarb restaurant. Except Chandi who served us the afternoon tea and Girlie at the breakfast service, the rest of the team were poorly trained and gave conflicting information. A good example was our afternoon tea service which was initially informed to us with an end time of 5 pm but on arrival pre- 5 pm, we were told that the service is over. Chandi saved the day by still offering the service and giving good advice. It almost seems like there is a mixture of permanent and temporary staff with the temp staff not aware fully of the hotel’s policies. Exceptional and warm service was offered by Paul at the front desk and Philip the Bellhop. Overall property could up its act and match the splendid property with an exceptional service. This was a simply sensational stay. The hotel sits in large grounds, with Arthur’s seat as a backdrop and a golf course and field full of highland cows adjacent. There was also a peacock wandering the grounds. Every room and area in the property is crammed full of magnificent, tasteful antique items. It is like staying in a museum. Our room had a large TV, excellent bathroom (bath and shower) and other usual amenities. The bed was big and very comfortable. We were told that all of rooms are styled differently. There was also specially selected champagne chilling in the room when we arrived. There are multiple living and drawing rooms where you can relax or enjoy food and drinks as well as two beautiful dining rooms. Service was excellent throughout. A magnificent stay.
