This property was beautiful. We loved the cow when we opened the blind to our window in the morning. The first thing we saw was a beautiful furry cow. We slept for 11 solid hours and everything was so comfortable and all the staff was so attentive we couldn’t have asked for more. We just love it here in Scotland.

"Charming, unique,"

10.0

Gorgeous, plush and such a pleasure to have the grounds of this fabulous, peaceful, historic house to ramble around in, within a mile of the centre of the city. This is a pretty unique experience. But it won’t appeal to everyone and so without wanting to sound negative, there are a few things you probably need to know: the style of the interior is deliberately ‘stuffed’ with antiques, paintings, etc etc. In the rooms as a result, despite their size, there’s quite a lack of places to put things. This is also, obviously, a very old property with all the challenges that implies for modern amenities especially as it has only a small number of rooms. You are going here for an experience. Personally, I absolutely loved it. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff are very good. Food is in the same category. The restaurant is busy at night given this is a destination restaurant. Wine list is top notch - I’ve not seen anything of this size or with this diversity in Scotland. It’s an incredible pleasure to be sitting in a bay window looking onto Arthur’s Seat having a delicious breakfast. This was my first time staying at the hotel though I know it well having grown up in the city. I normally stay at the excellent Balmoral which for me, works very well. But if I was a tourist visiting from overseas, I really think a few nights at Prestonfield would be a great thing - it is unique. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and have very fond memories of our stay.

"Well worth the expense"

10.0

A meal to celebrate my wife's birthday and it was truly memorable, the service and the food & wine made for an exceptional evening, rounded off by a wee cognac in the drawing room. A great night and a fabulous establishment we'll worth a visit but it's not light on the purse

"Magical stay in a fantastic hotel"

10.0

What a magical place for an escape, to unwind, to indulge, and to enjoy. First off, the staff are what sets this place apart. Well, that and the over the top fabulous decor. Oh and the amenities, the dining, the grounds....yeah, this place is in a class all itself. We had two rooms for our group, a standard room and a corner room. The standard room had an upgraded bathroom, while lacking in character, likely was a better call. My room had the beautiful, but older bathroom and I understand why they are upgrading them. It wasn't horrible, but could use some modernity. The bed was comfortable, the room quite with outstanding views. I love the turndown service, the complimentary wine/Champagne, and all the little side rooms to have a late night dram or a mid afternoon read on a couch. We had breakfast four times so really got to try everything. The portions are huge so, they kindly dialed down the sizes for us. The afternoon tea is not to be missed as it was perfect and delicious. We putted all nine holes, walked to old town, climbed Arthur's seat - all very close. The staff had great recommendations and getting a cab was a breeze. This should be your number one choice in Edinburgh.

"Amazing experience of Scottish luxury and opulence."

10.0

Incredible hotel! A unique country house hotel right in the middle of Edinburgh. You sit eating your breakfast in the most impossibly glamorous dining hall whilst looking at parkland. Meanwhile you can hop in a car and be in the middle of Edinburgh within a few minutes.

It's a really amazing place.

"Sumptuous accommodations"

10.0

Property was quiet with plenty of opportunity to stroll the grounds. Staff was attentive and very accommodating.

It was a bit far of the bus route, but it was a fair trade off for the peace and quiet.
