Breakfast excellent, tasting menu one evening excellent . Staff very welcoming and friendly and extremely helpful and chatty. Decor of hotel and rooms very opulent.

Dinner a La carte one evening was disappointingly average. Location in lovely park but nothing around hotel , good walks ,excellent buses but a walk to bus stops etc, taxi into town, otherwise good 30 minute brisk walk..perfect for exploring Arthur’s seat.

Location just outside of busy Edinburgh. Beautiful property. Excellent restaurant.

Bedroom was interestingly styled but stuffy and not particularly practical. Price is too high to stay here often.

So many hotels claim to be five star, but fall short of even being a reasonable four. The Prestonfield, for me, is a real five-star establishment that lives up to my breakfast expectations. I have an issue with hotels claiming this rating, but leave you to forage amongst other guests for drinks, toast, and breakfast. It is a staff and expenditure convenience on behalf of the hotel and lazy. Breakfast at The Prestonfield lives up to the hotel's reputation. A true cut above.

Booked for dinner in the hotel. Whilst the food was acceptable, it is regretted that there is no ‘dress code’ - other diners were in jeans and slovenly clothing. This isn’t acceptable in an establish where quality is supposed to be important. I did bring this to the attention of the owner and whilst he did acknowledge my complaint, he made it clear he had no intention of introducing a dress code. Such a shame - spoilt the evening!

Prestonfield House ist einzigartig. Die Lage ist super, ruhig und mit einem.Taxi ist man in ein paar Minuten in Edinburgh. Es gibt nichts, was mir an diesem Haus missfällt, das Essen ist hervorragend, der Afternoon-Tea ist köstlich, es gibt nichts besseres in Schottland, und ich habe so einige probiert. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut ausgestattet und man fühlt sich wie in einer anderen Welt.Das Personal ist ausserordentlich aufmerksam und freundlich. Ich liebe dieses Haus.

What a beautiful hotel! The rooms are luxurious, full of character, and beautifully furnished. The gardens are peaceful and perfect for a stroll. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. Great location — you feel far away but you’re just minutes from Edinburgh’s Old Town. Highly recommended!

I like the history behind of the hotel

A lovely lunch in the beautiful surroundings of the Rhubarb restaurant - a gift from our son and partner for our anniversary. On the whole, the experience was wonderful but just marred by the fact that three of us chose the Pork Rilettes starter with a "sourdough" type accompaniment. There was not enough biscuit for the amount of lovely pork rilettes so we asked the waiter if he could bring us one or two more and pointed out how difficult it was to fit it all on to the small amount of biscuit we'd been given His reply was, "yes it was challenging but do-able" Walked off but never returned with what we had asked The main course was perfect as was the rest of the very pleasant staff but just feel that the waiter's attitude was unnecessary
