Super 8 by Wyndham Kingsport /I-81

I know this area because I'm from Kingsport. I knew what to expect, but some who have never been here may find the area to be less than desirable. It's a short driving distance to anything you need. So if you're not planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel, which we didn't, it's a great place to stay. The rooms are clean. We asked for extra towels and we got them. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was nice, though not elaborate. We did order a roll-away bed on the website, but were told when we got there they don't have any. I think they're still under renovation, so hopefully they'll get everything up-to-date soon.

Nice clean motel right off the Interstate with plenty of food options nearby!

Well the cleanliness of the place was not great. The pictures for advertisements looked way better then the what we pulled up to. No good place to walk my dogs the grass was.almost knee high scared me.to walk into it. The hotel room was very moist I don't get it. It was like have dew all over your room. The curtain wouldn't shut all the way had to get up on a chair to fix it. Cigarette burns all over the linens. And there was shampoo bar soap but no conditioner strange. I probably would never stay again. The room made me feel dirty.

Older hotel but clean. Had refrigerator, ironing board,microwave. It suited our one night stay.

Rooms should be cleaner. Found dirt under the bed. All else was average.

The Hester was broken it was a cold night and all three rooms we had were cold and the heater did not manage to heat them up to comfortable temperature

It sucked

The reviews I read were all over the place, I should have listened more to the poor reviews. The first room we were assigned (I asked for another) was AWFUL! Ugly dirty walls and floors. There were dead bugs between the nightstand and the beds. There was a giant piece of metal sticking out from the size of the dresser and the bathroom was unspeakable. Since I made my reservation on Expedia, I couldn’t get a refund so I was stuck. So I went back to the front desk and asked for a new room and explained my grievance. The man at the desk was apologetic and gave me a new room and asked me to go check it out before committing. It was definitely better. Looked like it had recently be redone. Fresh paint, nice floors, new tv, thick comfortable mattresses and no dead bugs! So I took it. There were still problems tho. It wasn’t until getting read to go to bed that I saw how awful the bed coverings were. The blankets were stained and had burn holes. There was a coffee maker with no pot, just a styrofoam cup upside down in its place. The WiFi didn’t work, and there was no shower curtain! I was so tired and had to get back on the road early in the morning so I just skipped the shower. My stay at Super 8 in Fort Smith the night before was great, that’s why I took the chance to book here. Bad choice. It is apparent that they are trying to improve but they have a very long way to go. Unless you are one of the lucky ones to get a newly remodeled, fully finished room, it’s a dump.

Staff was very welcoming and pleasant spirited. We stayed on the lower level in a double bedroom, within distance of the main office. Room was clean, bathroom had great lighting and water pressure, and tv was 1080i flat screen. The beds were worn and uncomfortable to sleep on and the pillows were extremely flat. We requested extra pillows and received two (we needed four to accommodate everyone). Hotel was located right off i-81 and a short drive away from a strip of restaurants and entertainment. Facility was fairly quiet, the exception was the cleaning staff blaring rap music until 5pm.

The rooms were not ready, one room was still occupied when we open the door, the room cleaning staff was helpful, but did not sweep or mop the room floor for our three day stay. The Hotel also charged my Citi credit card which was used to hold the rooms. The rooms were paid for as two individual rooms, by myself and an other person who I held the room for. Would like my $335.52 back. Not happy with stay.
