Seamless check in/out. Staff friendly. Recently updated bathroom. Bed was firmer than we are used to. Pillows were pretty flat. Free breakfast is available. Room was clean & tidy.

The hotel is not fancy but affordable and CLEAN. It's simple and had a free breakfast that included a variety of options: fresh fruit, hot egg & biscuit sandwiches, boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee & juices. "Welcome" baked chocolate chip cookies upon arrival at check in desk. We appreciated the small-town hotel staff ladies that made check in/out so easy. The bed was comfortable & sheets were clean and soft. Mini frig in the room. It appeared our room had recent renovations: *new bathroom floor, toilet, shower; *carpet in room. Complaints (tolerable for us): *bathroom ceiling vent was annoyingly loud rattle; *pillows need replaced; *no USB port available; *walls a little thin (heard street traffic splashing from cars & clear conversations from hallway). If you want an affordable, clean place to rest your head, this hotel is quite acceptable to book.

"Be Careful Booking"

This hotel requires three days cancellation if plans change. We canceled 24 hours prior, but were still charged. Have used in the past and think it is great place for extra beds for in-town family event. Just can’t change plans without 3 days notice.

"Go to Decorah"

4.0

The positive was the room was "mostly" clean. The negatives. We are a senior couple. We requested a 1st floor room - "they are full". So, we got a luggage rack and started walking the halls to find out there are no elevator in this hotel. So, one by one brought our luggage up the stairs to our room. Then there are some rooms with balconies. Our room was above the room with the biggest balcony. They were outside when we got there and outside when we went to bed. The noise carried but not as bad as we thought. Friday, they have stock car races = they were going on and VERY loud until 10-11. Not the hotels' fault. I am thinking the rooms towards the front of the building "could be" quieter on race nights but not sure. The room was VERY dark - my husband hated that. There are 2 lamps in the main room, we had to unplug one as there are NO plug ins for electronic devices. Thankfully, we had 2 extension cords, or we could have not plugged in a cpap nor phone chargers, etc. The way the room was configured (a 2 bedded room) - one bed could see the TV; the other was off in the corner by the window - you could not see the TV. The a/c- heat unit did not function well. There was a button to keep the fan going all the time, but it did not work - we had hoped that would help with the balcony and racing noise - it did not. When it did run - it smelled pretty bad. I am thinking the units needed to be cleaned badly?? The breakfast in the am consisted of carbs - waffles and something that looked like a corn dog - not sure if it was supposed to be a sausage/pancake thing or what. We unwrapped it and it looked pretty greasy, so we opted for going to Hardees across the street for a breakfast sandwich. Will we stay here again? Absolutely not, we will go to Decorah. We had stayed here years ago when it was a chain hotel, and it was good. Oh, they had a sign when you come in that says they have no housekeeping services - no staff. However, the sign looked like it had been there for a LONG time so if you stay here you have to get your own clean towels, toiletries etc. as there is no housekeeping either.
