"Felt like I was in a poor Mexico town."

2.0

Water in the bath tub had to be turned on with a faucet hidden in the wall of another room. Someone had removed a panel to get to it. Air conditioner was very small and could not cool the room. Bed sunk badly and did not offer any support for my back. No remote control for the T. V. Channel reception was very poor. Did not fell safe around the hotel after dark. Ice machine was out of order.

"You Pretty Much Get What You Pay For."

8.0

This hotel is an excellent value, but it quite old and a bit run down. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked. It did not work great, but it did cool the room. The bathroom was showing its age for sure. However, for the money, I expected this going in. There was nothing about this hotel that I could not tolerate and I knew that their continental breakfast would be minimal fare. I will stay at this hotel again if travelling alone and on a tight budget.

"Good enough for what I needed."

4.0

Drove from Houston to return a car permit, so decided to stay in a hotel near the border. This hotel was listed for only $49 and included 2 queen beds and continental breakfast. Got there at 11 30 pm, gentleman very nice. Room was next to office and clean, but bathtub needs a reconstruction. TV remote control didn't work, but TV did. Breakfast included cereal, waffles, oatmeal and fruit. Stay was good enough for what I paid and for quick rest.

"University Inn & Suites"

6.0

It is your average motel for a reasonable price. It is very close to the border with Mexico and is three blocks to Downtown Brownsville. Stayed there for a night during business trip and was satisfied with the room and service.

"Never going back."

4.0

It was not a good experience. Hotel.com gave me a room at the rate of $45. When I arrived at the hotel the staff there charged me $55. The hotel is directly across the street from the border of Mexico. The shower head in room 108 did not work and the tub looks terrible. Because I am unable to hear the alarm clocks, I have to bring my own device which requires me to insert the device in between the mattress. I lifted the mattress and there were cigarette butts and sunflower seed shells in between, and it's a non-smoking room they say. The staff are nice people but the office closes at midnight. The pillows were burst open at the ends and I feared for bugs all night long.

"Home Away from Home."

10.0

I found the owners and managers to be just like family. It is convenient to the Students and faculty of The University of Texas in Brownsville, It is within walking distance of both Gateway Bridge and Brownsville-Matamoras Bridges. Near The International Technology and Education Center and Commerce facility for the business people bridging construction and education between two countries and more. I found it to be very reasonable for Extended Stay and for learning and educating purposes. Safe, reliable and breakfast served daily.....Cafe', Cafe' and Charro Days.

"Will not allow children""

2.0

Will not allow children if you want a room over a week. They are very rude about it. I'm sure it's great if you aren't traveling with a 10 year old. Is this legal?????

"The university inn in Brownsville, TX for padre"

The hotel is horrible! The shower water stinks & there was dirt & rust all over the shower! It was cheap tho! But far as hell from south padre island. This hotel should definitely consider remodeling!
