Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

The breakfast buffet is wonderful.

We returned again for a weekend getaway to the historic and lovely Shawnee Inn, this time in the Winter, as the location is convenient for several ski resorts. Our room was reasonably priced, comfortable, and had many amenities. The property was very cozy in the cold weather, and there was a lot to stay amused indoors and outside. The resort seems quite popular with families, as there were young children enjoying archery classes and s'mores bonfires, while adults could practice axe throwing. The remodeled indoor pool and hot tub were wonderful--warm, relaxing water, and a spacious and bright environment. We enjoyed our delicious dinner in the special River Room restaurant. The views here are spectacular, and add to the overall serene setting. Again, this is a historic property, opened in 1911, so some step climbing and walking is required. It is wonderful that the hotel has been preserved and continues to function, and provides a peaceful and soothing experience for all guests.

The room 313 was a dump. Bed frame broken and stuck out at the end of bed. Caused both my husband and myself to trip. The repairs to the room certainly were not complete by any skilled craftsmen. Lady bugs on the window and window sill. No door on the closet. Just really an unattractive room. Paint peeling in the bathroom. Sink missing drain plug. The pool and common areas were nice. The rug by the elevator on the third floor was ripped and filthy.

Take care of maintenance of the rooms, rugs in the hallway. The elevator was poorly lit.

The inn is supremely old-fashioned comfortable and personally welcoming. GREAT coffee place next to the lobby. Over-the-top friendly and helpful staff members wherever we went. Located in a magical setting close to the Shawnee ski area.

Location is beautiful. Love the river views and having the option to take a nice long walk through the grounds. Room was nice. Bed was very comfy. Lobby is very nice with lots of comfortable places to sit. The brewery is very cute and the bar inside the lobby/restaurant is nice. The coffee shop in the lobby has delicious hot chocolate. The piano music in the lobby at night is nice. Biggest issue was we paid for the MAP food plan and no one could tell us how to use it for dinner once we got there. We were being treated like we made it up which was very awkward because we sure did pay for it. Breakfast was not worth it either for the price.( It was similar to the free breakfast other hotels offer.) We paid a lot for 2 nights as it was our anniversary but financially it was not worth it.

Stayed at the Shawnee Inn with my family while skiing on Shawnee Mountain. The room was clean and comfortable. Maybe because it is a golf resort they provided plenty of towels. Quality beds. We chose the Inn because it is less than 10 min from the mountain, on the same road, and that made a difference after all-day skiing. Food at the River Room was very good, especially after a day of lodge food, and the staff at the River Room was super nice, super courteous. They also had gluten-free options for dinner--huge bonus for our family. Burger, very good. Restaurant open late. Got a discount on our lift ticket by purchasing it through the Inn at the time of the reservation, but note that you have to pick up the lift ticket at the Inn. Shawnee Mountain will not have a copy of it, so go to the Inn first to get your tickets. A bit of an extra step, but the discount can make it worthwhile.
